Are you ready? We are! Tonight at 21:00 House of Spr!tzl – a theatrical film of fevered talents @ Silbersee will premiere here and at www.spritzl.com!

Real creativity simply cannot be contained. For some, being able to perform is vital. But what if the world around you prevents you from doing so?

Silbersee presents the short film House of Spr!tzl, an imagination of that nightmare of locked down creative energies come true. A fever dream in which a group of passionate performers are trapped together in a museum filled with ghosts from the past. When the portraits on the walls become their new spectators, their creative drive springs back to life.

This film was made in response to the Covid-19 situation. Where we’d usually present the creators of our Spr!tzl trajectory—a program in which Silbersee scouts and guides young talents—and the talents from our R&D division ‘Vrijplaats’ physically at Spr!tzl Festival, we now present them here. This season’s Spr!tzl talents are composer, producer of musical theatre, musician and actor Jerzy Bielski; King Sisters, a trio of sisters that combine all of their professional backgrounds in theatre, music, performative and visual art, and percussionist and theatre maker Yung-Tuan Ku. House of Spr!tzl was created to give these innovators a stage, when those were still closed or only open for a limited public. Please enjoy House of Spr!tzl - a short film of fevered talents @ Silbersee and accept the makers’ warm invitation to follow them in the future! To read more, go to www.spritzl.com

HOUSE OF SPR!TZL | MEET THE ARTISTIC TEAM

Visual artist and painter Jamel Armand has multiple ways of expressing himself: he works as a cinematographer and animator for several artists like Lil Kleine and Douwe Bob and he creates clips and paintings that return in their album art for DI-RECT. Jamel Armand’s creations are an ode to the purity and aesthetics of forgotten civilisations, and in them he finds a direct connection with his Indonesian roots. He has mastered the art of translating music and sound to visual concepts and he draws inspiration from the visual history that humanity crossed through. He is connected to House of Spr!tzl as visual artist.

HOUSE OF SPR!TZL | MEET THE MAKERS OF '19 -'20

Jerzy Bielski (Poland) is a theatre maker, composer, installation designer, performer and director of Futurists Foundation, producing his work. He develops works at a cross-point between theatre, dance, installation and music – with a strong formal approach and political angle.

During Spr!tzl, he developed the performance NO-ONE SHOW, in collaboration with Tatiana Rosa (sound design, audio, video programming) and Thomas Brand (cinematography, lighting design, editing). In the age of Artificial Intelligence, one of the most controversial topics is how this will impact humanity. With omnipresent internet bots which communicate with us, and algorithms which lead our search engines and heavily influence our view of the world, you could wonder: is an artist is still an essential part of a live performance?

NO-ONE SHOW can be seen from 9 to 13 September during Gaudeamus

On 20th of July, we will present to you the online video: House of Spr!tzl - a theatrical film of fevered talents @ Silbersee.

HOUSE OF SPR!TZL | MEET THE MAKERS OF '19 -'20

King Sisters is formed by Joske, Annelie and Marthe. Every one of them has their own specialism: theatre, music, and the performative, visual art. With each from their own perspective, the three of them develop a new, interdisciplinary language. They work from the field of tension between their disciplines, and by responding to each other, they amplify and disrupt each other. On stage, the sisters have a chemistry that radically breaks through the separation between the private and the public. Their family bond, simultaneously warm yet tense, forms the heart of the collective.

During their Spr!tzl trajectory, the King Sisters (while in quarantine) created Talking Songs; a dreamlike performance concert. With their voice, the three sisters invite us into an associative and unpredictable world. On an empty black stage, armed only with some white chalk and their voices as instruments, they uncover the dynamic of their collective without mercy. Which things do you share with each other, and which you don’t?

Talking Songs can be seen at Amsterdam Fringe Festival, on 12 and 13 September.

On 20th of July, we will present to you the online video: House of Spr!tzl - a theatrical film of fevered talents @ Silbersee.

HOUSE OF SPR!TZL | MEET THE MAKERS OF '19 -'20

Yung-Tuan Ku ia a percussionist and theatre maker from Taiwan and is part of Studio MAPA Nederland as a creator. She co-founded the Platform for Artists Netherlands Taiwan.

For her new performance, Yung-Tuan found inspiration in the novel What The Boys Taught Me (2004) by Taiwanese author, filmmaker and presenter Kang-Yung (Kevin) Tsai. The book contains a collections of thirty stories about boys/men that he met throughout his life. For the concept of her performance, Yung-Tuan reflected on her own experiences with ‘the boys.’ The result is a musical mime show in collaboration with Che-Shen Wu (percussionist and mime) and Ide van Heiningen (mime) about the distance between girls and boys and if our s*x really matters.
