Bob Marley is the Name of a Bird

Before we started this project, before we got to know the Ringmasters and learned about Picolets and Twatwas, I never thought about bird song as something masculine. So when I learned that only male birds compete in the bird singing competitions, I was surprised and amused.

Still, when I learned about this, it all made sense. Male birds singing to attract females, male birds singing to be dominant and to mark a territory. I've heard that before, I thought, concerning other animals perhaps, with other kinds of performances..

Will we ever truly understand why birds sing?

This is Disney´s Snow White. She is sad, and asks the bird "what do you do when things go wrong?". They sing.

Always nice to find other projects about bird songs :) Like this one! Here the bird's sounds are cut up into tiny tiny fragments and categorized so that similar sounds are next to each other on a map. I wonder, what the intention is of cutting up the bird sounds into fragments, eliminating any traces of the individual "bird songs" (slag)..? Could it turn into an instrument? 🤔🤔

Hooray! Our campaign finished exactly one week ago! And on the very last day we received a generous donation from Bank Giro Loterij! All your efforts combined helped us reach unbelievable 140% of our goal. We are very grateful for all the support that we received from the Netherlands, Sweden, Russia and Japan.
We had an amazing opening during museum night CBK Zuidoost. And what comes next? We will organize another live performance on the 2nd of December and you are invited!

Can you imagine how powerful and happy it makes us feel? We know the campaign is successful! Especially after Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst added their donation to all the generous private contributions. We want to thank you all!

It's possible to donate more till November 3rd. And with extra money we will rent equipment and make the second live performance on December 2.

Everything has its start - growing from curiosity, coming up as an accident. In this video Maria tells us the story of meeting a man with a bird for the first time. Hard to believe it was almost 6 years ago. So we had to start. The story was asking for it. And now to get closer to the exhibition we still need to collect 59% of our goal - so we need your support!
