Galerie voor moderne & hedendaagse kunst en fotografie in het Spiegelkwartier midden in Amsterdam.

Begin september 2014 wordt in samenwerking met Tom Okker Art een nieuwe galerie geopend, midden in ‘het kunsthart’ van Amsterdam. Stephan Okker (33), jaren werkzaam voor Tom Okker Art in Hazerswoude-dorp, opent de galerie ‘Okker Art Gallery’. Naast Cobra-werk wordt ook andere moderne & hedendaagse kunst en fotografie aangeboden, wat voor een brede groep kunstliefhebbers aantrekkelijk is. Ook zal de galerie een paar keer per jaar exposities organiseren. De nieuw te openen galerie is gevestigd op Vijzelstraat 125, midden in het Spiegelkwartier en tussen de Nieuwe Spiegelstraat en Utrechtsestraat. Ook diverse musea, zoals FOAM, Rijksmuseum, Het Stedelijk Museum en het Van Goghmuseum zijn op loopafstand te bereiken.

Where does a journey really begin?

Perhaps not when we arrive somewhere new, but in the moment just before we leave.

In Bon Voyage, Astrid Huisman-Biemans captures that sense of movement and anticipation in bronze. The elongated figure, confident posture and carefully observed details suggest someone ready to set out, while leaving her destination entirely to our imagination.

That openness is characteristic of Huisman-Biemans’ work. Her sculptures often begin with recognisable moments from everyday life, but never tell us the complete story. Instead, they invite us to imagine what came before and what might happen next.

Bon Voyage shows how a single figure can hold an entire story without giving everything away.

Finding beauty in everyday life.

For Astrid Huisman-Biemans, inspiration can be found in the moments we often pass by. People, their relationships, a gesture or simply someone enjoying a moment to themselves can become the starting point for a new work.

Her distinctive bronze sculptures are defined by movement, elongated lines and carefully observed details. By playing with human proportions, creates elegant figures that seem almost to dance, while a posture, hairstyle or item of clothing gives each sculpture its own character.

Her work reflects friendship, togetherness, vulnerability and a clear zest for life, inviting us to look more closely at the beauty hidden in everyday moments.

Some artworks reveal themselves gradually.

In Aqua Height, Didier Engels transforms details from the maritime world into a refined abstract composition, where texture, coulour and surface take center stage. Inspired by ship hulls and shipping containers, his work explores the traces left behind by time, sea spray and the elements.

With a background in textile design and interior architecture, Engels has developed a distinctivr visual language in which photography moves beyond documentation. Everyday industrial surfaces become carefully composed works of contemporary art that invite viewers to slow down and look again.

Printer on baryta paper and finished with epoxy, Aqua Height, is available as a limited edition of just 8.

☀️Cadaqués, Kees Salentijn☀️

This work by Kees Salentijn is situated in a town called Cadaqués in the Costa Brava, Spain. This was home to Dalí, you can even spot his house on this painting. Dalí got inspired by the town, the sea and the chalk white houses.
