Tyron Winter (1990)__ is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam.
His practice is a highly personal exploration of what it means to be human, to be alive, and the realities that govern existence. He does this by reflecting on emotions, heritage, DNA, impermanence and the body alongside investigations into the relationship between organic and synthetic matter, structures and systems.
Central to his work is what he calls human excavation: a process in which his multidisciplinary approach leans toward performance art, often using his own body as both material and subject. Most notably, this exploration takes shape in his ‘Flower Works’: floral sculptures such as Symbolic Body (2024) and his Echo series where white roses and
lilies (signature flowers recurring throughout his practice) are infused with his own DNA through a ritualistic process involving a derivative of his blood. Binding his ancestral legacy to the esoteric values of the flowers. The work highlights human contexts while embodying cycles of life and death, ancestry, love, and memory.
His practice is rich in symbolism and poetic intent, often subverting or abstracting the physical body while embracing notions of biohacking, recomposition, and reappropriation. Through this inquiry, Winter seeks to create moments of intimacy and recognition, opening spaces for connection and empathy where viewers may feel seen and held in the
shared frequencies of human experience.
During his residency at Nieuw en Meer, he will translate this approach to an installation of paintings called ‘The Melanin Room’ exploring and embracing techniques such as tempera grassa.
