New music performance by Marmoucha: Children of Al-Andalus – Music from paradise lost in Morocco featuring Abir El Abed & Montse Cortés💫

The musical performance consists of twelve compositions. Each composition tells a part of the story of the Andalusian refugees. From the capture of the Iberian Peninsula by the Arabs and Berbers in 711 and the heyday of Córdoba to the surrender of Granada in 1492 and the flight to Morocco. In Children of Al-Andalus all forms of Andalusian music are given a place. From medieval Andalusian noubas to modern Moroccan compositions. From taqsim to the different types of flamenco. The music styles often enter into exciting crossovers, for example because two music styles or two musical instruments from different genres enter into a dialogue with each other.

After promising initial reactions on social media and in the press, Avishai Darash now presents his album Andalusian Love Song on our stage. The Amsterdam-Israeli pianist recorded the album with the Marmoucha Orchestra. "This is my best work," Darash says. 'I now feel like a real composer, arranger and project leader. It was my dream to bring this special combination together.'

Andalusian Love Song is a collaboration with the Marmoucha Orchestra, inspired musicians with a passion for music and the diversity in the musical languages, styles and traditions of North Africa, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Darash says: 'It's my love letter to Andalusian music and a tribute to the evolution of that music, how it sounded and how it is today. That's what I chose my musicians for: Mohamed Ahaddaf is a master of Andalusian music and Shayan Fathi of flamenco drums.'

Een selectie van het Marmoucha Orchestra en Hamid Ajbar gaan diverse kleurrijke samensmelting van soefimuziek presenteren.
Geniet van een optimale en kleurrijke samensmelting van diverse soefimuziek uit de enorme erfenis van spirituele qasida’s en muwashahat-gedichten die ons zijn nagelaten door soefi-meesters uit Spanje, Noord-Afrika en het Midden-Oosten; waaronder Ibn Arabi, Rabia Al Adawiyya, Shushtari en Harrak, Busayri. Het repertoire van Marmoucha Orechestra in samenwerking met Hamid Ajbar is een reis van de geest die ons meeneemt van de beroemde tuinen van het Cordoban-kalifaat, Granada en Noord-Afrika, naar de niet minder beroemde tuinen van Damascus, inclusief een verscheidenheid aan muziekstijlen, ritmes en maqamat (muzikale modi) die in elke regio te vinden zijn.
“God is mooi en houdt van schoonheid”, met deze prachtige woorden willen we je uitnodigen om met ons mee te gaan op onze spirituele reis en je laten vervoeren door zowel de schoonheid van de melodieën als de verheven betekenissen van de poëzie.
Hamid Ajbar – zanger, violist
Hij werd geboren in Chefchaouen in Marokko en ontdekte al op jonge leeftijd zijn muzikale talent. Hamid Ajbar won verschillende keren de nationale prijs voor Soefi- en Andalusische muziek en daar zit ook zijn specialiteit.
Iftar
Voorafgaand aan het concert is er de mogelijkheid om te genieten van een Iftar bij Podium Mozaïek. In verband met het aantal beschikbare plekken is tijdig aanschaffen van de tickets van belang.
De avond wordt gepresenteerd door Sanae Orchi die op haar geheel eigen wijze het publiek zal meenemen tijdens het concert.
