Symposium concluding the exhibition ‘Decor in Drie Bedrijven/Set Design in Three Acts’
- Saturday April 25th, 4-5pm
- Register in bio
The finissage of the exhibition period culminates in a dialogue between artists Ulrike Quade, Zephyr Brüggen and Arne Hendriks about the significance of scenography and miniatures as instruments for exploring our relationship with the landscape.
“Visitors to the Slingelandt Theatre in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries witnessed a remarkable spectacle. After all, they saw no actors on this small chamber stage, but rather a continuous series of changing sets. With the aid of various mechanical techniques, candlelight, and human power, visitors witnessed, for example, an eruption of Mount Vesuvius.”
In March 2026, Ulrike Quade was invited to give a masterclass with Arne Hendricks on theatre technology. Drawing from the making of scenographies in robot-theatre projects such as Orito, SPOTxKafka and our new immersive production Roman & ELIZA, Quade explored theatre technology as a space for experimentation and research where urgent societal issues become visible, imaginable and experiential.
