Dear English speakers and/or those who know them,
On 15 March 2020, the Netherlands went in lockdown. A few days earlier on March 9, Italy had already shut its doors. Lombardy became the epicenter of what was then called the Italian drama, but which soon spread across Europe and the whole world. The North Italian city Brescia became one of the hardest hit areas in Europe.
On 8 May 2020, we had a brainstorm meeting with the team in de Tolhuistuin. 1,5 meter apart, but very close op de huid van het idee of a corona theater: the Peepshow Palace. A round theater, based on the classic s*x theater, with two floors of private booths around a rotating stage. 94 visitors who, spread over the day, could once again experience live theater. Drawn, built, programmed with 120 performances by artists who no longer had work in three crazy months. The thin cultural summer finally got some skin on the bones.
On 7 July we opened the Peepshow Palace with Alleen Samen. Marien, Marieke, and Ward in a tug of war between huidhonger and smetvrees, playing with the need to touch and the fear to get infected.
Now, five years later, we are invited to play Alleen Samen in Brescia, Lombardy. Or better said: Alone Together. Our Italian debut, in English. To get our tongues wet with English, we play the show one time only, exclusive, in De Sloot: Next week Tuesday 18 Nov. Very special and very uniek to hear De Warme Winkel perform in English. So invite all your English, or English speaking or English understanding friends!
