WHAT REMAINS - A duo exhibition by Folkert de Jong & Tild Greene at Projectspace 38.40, Amsterdam Noord.

In a world racing towards technological progress and irreversible ecological damage, this exhibit confronts the paradox of preservation. Through bronze sculptures capturing fleeting objects of labor, consumption, and utility, we ask: What truly deserves permanence, and who decides?

Explore the delicate tension between industrial progress and nature’s reclaiming force. WHAT REMAINS brings attention to what we cling to, what we discard, and how these choices shape our legacy.

Nataliya Zuban +

Nataliya Zuban is a Ukrainian ceramic artist. Her work investigates the relationship between material and form, exploring how ceramic sculptures can embody themes of decay and memory. Zuban is known for her innovative use of glazes and textures, transforming clay into organic, evocative shapes that resonate over time. Through her art, she invites contemplation on the delicate balance between existence and the remnants of the past.

For VIGIL, Zuban presents a sculpture that explores the fragile balance of coexistence on the edge of parasitism. Inspired by the transformative nature of the glazing process, she creates a piece where the glaze “takes over” the ceramic form, reshaping its structure in a symbiotic relationship. The work resembles organic forms, capturing a moment of life seemingly frozen in time, prompting reflection on the complexities of growth and transformation in the natural world.

Thank you all for your love and support during ‘Vigil - Death and the Afterlife’—We are beyond proud to share the documentation of the last chapter in the exhibition 🪦

The concluding chapter, Beyond the Afterlife, shifts the focus from human-centric conceptions of the afterlife to speculative imaginations of a post-human future. We encounter various hybrid entities—synthetic nature, and bioengineered organisms that might rise from the ruins of a world abandoned by humans.

‘Vigil - Death and the Afterlife’ is a collaboration between .9, , and curator , hosted by
