It is a wrap!! Treework !Thank you all who were involved, thank you all who made it possible. We feel grateful and fulfilled after creating our newest work and presenting it to so many, dedicated and interested people and trees in the sold out forest of Terschelling. We received so many beautiful reactions and words on the work, thank you all!
A special thanks to the tree ensemble at Østmarka and Bos Duinmeertje Hee. It has been such a privilege to sing and create the work together, it has made us realise even more how exciting this work, this invitation to different approaches, can be. Trees are absolutely amazing creative beings and exceptionally beautiful performers.
Thank you, Trees.
These were the first showings of Treework. There are many more to come, each time in collaboration with a different Tree Ensemble.
We are very much looking forward 🌲

Here is running like crazy during one of our rehearsals of Treework! We have been challenged to think about time, growth, resilience and decay. We have been running, climbing and disappearing into the soil. We can't wait to share our attempt. We invite you to reshape your relationship with forests. Almost Oerol time...✨

DO IT YOURSELF STONEWORK #2
Put your hand on the stone and feel the surface of the stone and the temperature. Lift the stone and feel the weight and size in your hands.

About Stone
Stone is old. Very old. An unimaginable 1.5 billion years old. It was in the middle of the Proterozoic that he was formed on the fault line of two continental plates, roughly where the Atlantic Ocean now flows. Stone is now of a manageable size: approximately the size of a large loaf of bread, weighing 9.3 kilograms (20.5 lb) . This used to be different. In the Cambrian era, say 600 million years ago, Stone was a rock formation hundreds of kilometres long that hitched a ride north-eastwards with tectonic movements. Destination: present-day Norway, where Stone was deposited in the Hallingskarvet mountain range some 400 million years ago.

DO IT YOURSELF STONEWORK #1
Go outside, to an area you like to visit and see if you can find a stone that appeals to you. Observe where the stone is located. In what kind of landscape, on what kind of surface, besides what kind of vegetation? Also observe how the stone lies, where the stone touches the ground or something else.

The brand new work 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 is an exciting new direction for Espen Hjort and Mees Borgman. Together they are embarking on a journey into the unknown, creating works for and with non-humans, inspired by the urgency of the climate crisis. How can we as artists contribute to a more sustainable future on the planet Earth?

Recensie: Op de beste momenten maakt 'Stonework' van Landmarks (Espen Hjort en Mees Borgman) scherp voelbaar hoe moeilijk de mens het vindt om een oprechte relatie aan te gaan met onze omgeving.

"The ecological crisis is first and foremost a relationship crisis. It stems from the way man has related to the earth for centuries, as a sovereign species that felt elevated above everything else. In our work, we want to create space for a fundamentally equal encounter with the other person." - Espen Hjort

“De ecologische crisis is in de eerste plaats een relatiecrisis. Ze komt voort uit de manier waarop de mens zich eeuwenlang tot de aarde heeft verhouden, als een soevereine soort die zich boven al het andere verheven voelde. In ons werk willen we ruimte scheppen voor een fundamenteel gelijkwaardige ontmoeting met die ander.”
