The new Potloodcast is out now 🎙️✨
A new episode of the Potloodcast is live! In this episode, Floortje Smit interviews artist Willehad Eilers, also known as Wayne Horse 🎨
Born in Peine, Germany, Eilers emerged from the graffiti scene before studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and Rijksacademie. Eilers is currently based in Amsterdam.
Working under the name Wayne Horse, he creates large-scale drawings, murals, and installations that capture moments where control begins to slip—bodies distort, identities dissolve, and ecstasy teeters on the edge of something darker. His chaotic party scenes reveal a raw, unguarded world where desire and excess collide, balanced between euphoria and grotesque transformation. Even on the brink of collapse, there’s a strange, unsettling beauty—like dancing on the edge of a volcano 🪩🌋
Here’s a snippet from the interview:
“But even though I try to give sympathy to whatever I paint, it’s undeniable that I’m looking from a certain angle at the scenes that I depict. Not everybody sees it like this—and that’s the beauty of it. That’s my truth, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t want to add explanations next to the work. Once it’s out there, everybody’s truth is valid. Every interpretation is just as true as mine.”

Swarna Chitrakar nu te zien in de nieuwe expositie Drawing into Equality: Protest in Illustration and Graphic Art.

In deze expositie brengen we verschillende series samen van makers die de kracht van beeld als katalysator voor verandering zichtbaar maken.
In deze tentoonstelling zijn met natuurlijke verfstoffen handgeschilderde feministische protest-scrolls te zien van Swarna Chitrakar. Chitrakar is een gerenommeerde Patachitra-kunstenaar, changemaker en gemeenschapsleider uit Pingla, West-Bengalen. Door het maken van beeldende, verhalende illustraties draagt Chitrakar bij aan het behoud en de ontwikkeling van de traditionele kunst van het rollenschilderen. Haar rollenschilderijen zijn niet alleen een middel voor artistieke expressie, maar ook een manier om aandacht te vragen voor maatschappelijke kwesties, bijvoorbeeld tijdens de COVID-19-pandemie maar ook over vrouwenhandel

In this exhibition, we bring together various series by artists who highlight the power of imagery as a catalyst for change.
The exhibition features impressive feminist protest scrolls by Swarna Chitrakar. Chitrakar is a renowned Patachitra artist, changemaker and community leader from Pingla, West Bengal. By creating visual, narrative illustrations, Chitrakar contributes to the preservation and development of the traditional art of scroll painting. Her scroll paintings are not only a means of artistic expression, but also a way of drawing attention to social issues, for example during the COVID-19 pandemic, but also regarding women trafficking

Te bezoeken van woensdag t/m zondag van 12 tot 17.30 uur
Drawing into Equality: Protest in Illustration and Graphic Art.
Deze tentoonstelling brengt een series werken samen van verschillende illustratoren kunstenaars, waarin beeld als katalysator voor verandering centraal staat.
De kern van de expositie bestaat uit tien protestaffiches. Thema’s als veganisme, feminisme, Extinction Rebellion, seksueel geweld, Black Pride en kinderen in oorlogsgebieden vormden de inspiratie voor scherpe, kleurrijke beelden en illustraties.
Met werk van: Kazuma Eekman, Bas Steens, Ania Yilmaz, Mika Schalks, Cheyenne Goudswaard, Saida Ragas, Mark Schalken, Fynn van der Ziel, Ming Sin Ho en D’Avellonne van Dijk.

Een van de series die je kunt zien is Woorden voor daden van filosoof en tekenaar Cato Benschop. In haar illustraties onderzoekt zij hoe woord en daad onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden zijn — hoe taal niet alleen beschrijft, maar ook aanzet tot actie en begrip.

Drawing into Equality: Protest in Illustration and Graphic Art.
This exhibition brings together a series of works by various illustrators and artists, focusing on imagery as a catalyst for change.
The core of the exhibition consists of ten protest posters. Themes such as veganism, feminism, Extinction Rebellion, sexual violence, Black Pride and children in war zones provided the inspiration for sharp, colourful images and illustrations.
Featuring work by: Kazuma Eekman, Bas Steens, Ania Yilmaz, Mika Schalks, Cheyenne Goudswaard, Saida Ragas, Mark Schalken, Fynn van der Ziel, Ming Sin Ho and D’Avellonne van Dijk.

One of the series on display is Words for Actions by philosopher and illustrator Cato Benschop. In her illustrations, she explores how words and deeds are inextricably linked — how language not only describes, but also prompts action and understanding.
