I love meeting new interesting people and unfamiliar instruments. That is one of the main reasons why we host the OOS.

And sometimes those meetings at the OOS lead to beautiful projects. On the 14th of October Kat Carson will release her new ep to the world, recorded by Shipshape Recordings at the Workship op de Ceuvel.

Very excited to announce a new personal project.

Over the past year, I've been working on creating some of my own music, with the help of my trusty Dulcimer Lucy (gifted to me by my wonderful mother), my ever patient husband Adam Passingham , my musical soulmate Elisabeth Hetherington and a new friend/brilliant editor Mark Opfer-Ruting of Shipshape Recordings .

All this to say that my debut E.P. 'Dandelion', will be released on all major streaming platforms on October 14th of this year!

An impression of a beautiful afternoon. Thanks Lulu Lightning Artist for capturing the mood of the last OOS of the season so perfectly! Thanks to all the artist for showing up and sharing your music.

Special thanks to Chris Kuiper. He is an engineering buddy of mine, but when the improvisation asked for a drum, he was brave enough to grab the stage, even though he has never touched a drumstick before in his life!

All in all, I had a great time yesterday. If you also want to be part of these special afternoons, keep an eye on this page. In september we will be back for a new season of Open Opname Sessies!

Here is 'It is great when you get in', a song out of the Calendar Songs by Ymkje de Boer.

Ymkje takes poems she finds interesting and builds intricate modern classical compositions around it.

This recording was made during the premiere performance of the song-cycle in Splendor friday the 20th of May.

The wonderful Kat Carson released her version of She Moved Trough The Fair recorded at the Open Opname Session.

She accompanies herself on the appalachian mountain dulcimer, an instrument she just recently picked up. It is great to see people try out new stuff in the warm and open atmosphere of the Workship, and it is an honor to be there and try to capture the moment!
