I have been reflecting alot about the shapes that keep appearing in my work. The shapes that appear so naturally and without invitation, without asking for a permission and showing up without a notice.

The shape that gifts me this intense feeling, a sense of home and belonging.

it took 41 seconds to pull this sheet of paper. It already holds more stories than most pages ever will

There is a public washhouse at the edge of my village that nobody uses anymore. The women came here to wash their laundry, but that was not all they were doing. They talked and exchanged the latest news.

These places are mostly abandoned now. I came here to make paper.

Paper is usually where stories begin. When you write a letter to a good friend, the paper is just the carrier, only completed by the story you put onto it.

This sheet is different.

The stories are already inside it. An imprint of the stories of the people who came here, the ones that made them laugh and the ones that made them cry.

the heaviness of a bittersweet memory
into a reminder
that we are truly lucky
to have experienced these moments
which we miss so dearly.

And that nothing can take away these beautiful moments of the past.

I want to eternalize moments of beauty through my work, the ones you feel nostalgic about while you are still in the moment. Because you already know this will pass.

It is in that moment that you feel so at home, that you feel like this is right where you belong. That feeling is what I want to hold on to, and it is what I try to give a home in my work.

My paper is made from plants, rooted in the ground, yet still fading eventually. Rootedness and impermanence, side by side, just like the moments I am trying to hold.

Because I know the life you are unhappy with all too well.

I left my finance job 3 years ago for a Sabbatical in Portugal. And never returned to that life again.

I realized that without adjusting my life, I will be stuck in this treadmill, the endless hours commuting, the weekends filled with grocery shopping for the dinner with friends I didn’t even know that well, and cleaning a way too big apartment. Weekdays? Performing for my boss.

During my Sabbatical, I joined an artist residency in Portugal and ended up buying a house and art studio in a hidden village on Lisbon‘s countryside.

I organize 2 retreats this October for women who finally want to steer their life into a different direction: more connected with themselves, more creative, more feminine (because corporate always preferred to see my masculine traits).
