Fleeting Moment

Today I would like to share the right panel of the triptych Moments of Eternity, created especially for the exhibition Bron van Inspiratie in Soest.

Fleeting Moment is the right panel of the triptych.
Coloured pencil, 50 × 70 cm.

This work shows an old horse present in silence, turned inward and deeply absorbed in herself. Of all the horses I drew for this triptych, she was the oldest. That sense of age, calm and inner stillness became the core of the work.

The composition is built around a strong contrast between two emotional states. On one side is the calm, contemplative presence of the old horse, as if she has returned to her own past. On the other side appears a luminous image of happiness held in memory: a girl riding freely and quickly on a horse, carried by light, movement and air.

To strengthen this feeling of freedom, the riding horse is shown without tack, saddle or any other equipment. The image refers to a direct connection between human, animal, nature and emotion: a moment of trust, speed and unrestrained happiness.

Fleeting Moment is about the bittersweet nature of memory. Happiness can be intense and real, but it can never return in exactly the same way. The old horse becomes a bearer of lived time: not only of the loss of physical strength, but also of a rich inner world.

In this work, old age is not emptiness, but depth. What has passed cannot be repeated, yet it continues to live on as feeling, image and quiet presence.

Fleeting Touch

Today I would like to share one of the works created especially for the exhibition Bron van Inspiratie in Soest.

Fleeting Touch is the left panel of the triptych Moments of Eternity.
Coloured pencil, 50 × 70 cm.

At the centre of the work is an old horse that has left its working life behind and now spends its final years in peace and safety. The moment of contact between human and horse is soft and intimate, but for me it is not only about physical touch. It is a gesture of recognition, care and respect for a life that has already lived through a great deal.

The autumn leaves in the horse’s mane and the blossoming branches in the background bring different times together within one space — spring and autumn, bloom and completion. In this way, the work speaks about memory, ageing and the way different moments of a life can exist at the same time.

Within the triptych Moments of Eternity, this work explores the fragile beauty of old age — not as a loss of value, but as a state in which softness, trust and quiet presence acquire a special strength.

Fleeting Glance

Today I would like to share the central work of the triptych Moments of Eternity, created especially for the exhibition Bron van Inspiratie in Soest.

Fleeting Glance is the central panel of the triptych.
Coloured pencil, 50 × 70 cm.

In this work, two old ponies appear on opposite sides of the composition. Their faces — one light, the other brown — hold the foreground with a quiet and dignified presence. Between them, the space opens into a luminous passage, where human figures together with ponies slowly disappear into the distance.

This work speaks about the transience of experience: about how a moment appears, changes and passes before we can fully hold onto it. Yet this disappearance is not dramatic. It belongs to the natural movement of life. Everything passes, but not everything disappears; some moments remain within us as light, atmosphere and memories of beautiful days.

The two ponies seem to be witnesses or guardians of this passing moment. They stand like quiet gates between past and future. Their old age is not shown as a loss of value, but as a dignified stage of life, filled with calm, experience and gentle presence.

Fleeting Glance is a work about letting go, acceptance and the fragile beauty of what passes, yet continues to live on in memory.

Hello everyone. I present to you the result of my latest experiment. I wanted to give the elements of fire and water the shape of a horse. This is one of those cases where you start working without a clear plan, just an idea and the desire to follow your intuition. Whether it worked out or not, I’ll leave for you to decide.😅😊

Today I visited the National Black Tulip Museum in Lisse, where one of my works is on display. I invite everyone to visit this wonderful museum and, of course, the Kleurenpracht 2024 exhibition. A huge thank you to the organizers and sponsors of the exhibition. It is a great honor for me to display my artwork within the museum’s walls.

Hi everyone. I hope you’re all doing well and feeling energized at the start of this wonderful week. I finally finished this portrait. I still don’t have a name for it 🙈. Do you have any ideas? I used a mixed media technique: acrylic paste to create textured volume, watercolor, and colored pencils. The piece is for sale, so feel free to message me directly for purchase inquiries.
