Tomorrow, warming up OCCII before Moor Mother: James McClure & João Guerra 🎺🥁

An ongoing conversation between friends. Forever searching, forever learning, the trumpet-drums duo moves with love and intention through uneasy conversations in hopes of change. The music is an extension of their relationship, a continuation of dialogue, listening, and shared exploration. Alongside the duo, they are also bandmates in SOFAYA, an ensemble centered around South African music and heritage.

Tonight! As you walk into BIMHUIS Café, you’ll find our Ernst Gleam playing a number of Misha Mengelberg compositions that he has not previously performed in piano.

Mainly known as a double bassist and a member of the legendary ICP Orchestra (co-founded by Han Bennink and Misha Mengelberg) Gleam will return as our prestigious bar pianist for An Intergalactic Night. This is a special edition part of Misha Kosmos Festival (May 25 – June 7). The festival honors and celebrates the wacky and wonderful musical world of composer, pianist and philosopher Misha Mengelberg (1935 – 2017).

Tomorrow night for our Intergalactic Night, Terrie Ex will present Flaps (2025) the fascinating solo album he released via Terp, the co-label he co-founded with his wife Emma Fischer, who will join the performance painting live

Founding member of the legendary band The Ex (1979), Terrie Ex is an energetic and exciting improviser, on an endless search for unconventional and unusual guitar sounds.

On Monday, Beatrice Sberna is bringing an explosive set to BIMHUIS for An Intergalactic Night 🌌

She will perform new music alongside Tanine Kian (piano), Aniol Torrents (bass), and Ludvig Sondergaard (drums), presenting a set of written and improvised material with a strong sense of narrative and theatrical presence.

On Monday 1st of June, we return to the BIMHUIS for An Intergalactic NIght. As usual, the evening will be an occasion to encounter new sounds across genres and performative arts, as well as to honour and celebrate the music of Misha Mengelberg within the framework of the Mishakosmos Festival.

Multidisciplinary artist Meis Vranken, also known as the singer of art punk band Yodel Queen, works with subjects taken from her own daily life. After making a movie about the morning, punk-songs about office plants and essays about the garbage bin, she now presents Flat News: a brand new music performance centred around her own house.

Tomorrow night SITP joins the Impro Jazzcafé at Zaal 10, inviting Nate Wooley’s Folk Music Trio

After years of conceptual and compositional projects, trumpet player Nate Wooley put together a trio dedicated simply to free music without boundaries. In this trio he works together with two well-known names in the experimental jazz scene: Chris Corsano and Ches Smith.

Before them, Jorrit Dijkstra (sax / electronics) invites improvising musicians from the Amsterdam scene: Ada Rave (sax), Guus Janssen (piano) and Raoul van der Weide (bass).

PROGRAM UPDATE: for our event this Friday at Plantage Dok, we are happy to invite exciting 11-piece band YAKUA 🥁 led by Gerard Doorson. With an uplifting mix of powerful percussion and rich vocal melodies, for 18 years they have been an important voice in the Surinam music scene. The band is known for their powerful Kaskawi and rousing Kawina, but also plays other Surinamese music styles such as Samboera and Lala music. Within the rhythm section you hear instruments like the skratjie, hari, bangi, koti, sek seki and timbal. With their energy and strong sound, they get every audience moving.

Unfortunately G-tje & the Boys are not able to join us, but YAKUA complete the line-up together with .wizard, and the screening of + Q&A w/ 🎞️

This Friday, composer and multi-instrumentalist Phantom Wizard is performing live at Plantage Dok for KB_ x LOKAAL x SITP

Nature, afrofuturism, jazz, and hip-hop have come together to form Phantom Wizard’s ethereal work. The artist embarks on a deeply personal yet profoundly universal journey, punctuated by experimentation and improvisation. On stage, he is interlocked with his own multifacetedness, rendering his art moving to those who watch him play.
