Another successful Wine and Paint🍷🎨. This time we painted Koi fish. And I was amazed at all the different interpretations of the motif. We had cubistic koi fish, koi fish with hats and koi fish seen from above, and one painting of another type of fish.

When you come to a Wine and paint event, I will show you how to paint a set painting, but you are free to paint what you want to paint.

It was the first one in this beautiful space in Amsterdam Centrum, the upper room of Christchurch⛪ Groenburgwal 42. What I enjoy the most about these events is how the conversations flow when people are in the creative process.

Some wine always helps, but if you don't drink wine there are always some alternatives available.

The first Paint 🎨 an Wine 🍷 in my Studio was a 🙌 Success.
Next one up we are painting confetti 🎊 rain.

This is way out of my comfort zone🙃
How often do you say that?

This is a picture of me today, handing out flyers as people come out of the train station.

As I prepared for it my stomach turned, I did not want to do it.
It seemed like a good 👍idea 💡
some months ago when I planed it.
But actually doing it, was way out of my comfort zone.

Well in place and handing them out, I discovered it was not so scary after all.

This Friday we are painting
Koi Fish 🎏

Did you know that Koi Fish only grow to a certain size when they are in a small pond?
If you move them to a bigger pond they will grow bigger.

Similarly, we grow more when we challenge ourselves. And do something new. And something out of the comfort zone.

This still life by Louise Moillon was painted in 1630 and thus belongs to the Baroque period. Loise Moillon makes use of the rule of thirds in this painting. In the children's art class starting in the autumn, we go through art principles that help us paint well. The rule of thirds helps us make a good composition in the paintings. For each principle, I show the children examples from art history and contemporary art. The links for the children's art classes are in the comments.
