✨ From roots to paper ✨

Last Saturday the 11th of April, I had the pleasure of giving a presentation about my creative journey at , as part of the program “Hier is oma geboren…”, organized by .

I shared how my Indo heritage finds its way into my illustration projects and paper goodies collection — blending personal history with visual storytelling. It was a special afternoon filled with conversations about Southeast Asian culture, identity, and the importance of keeping these stories alive. 🤎

The program was opened by , followed by an inspiring talk on genealogy by Kevin Felter — diving into how to research your Asian roots. We ended the day creatively with a ‘Paper Sarong Drawing’ workshop by 🎨

And we’re not stopping here… 🎊
Because this weekend you can find me at the Pasar Malam in Maastricht — a market full of Indo, Moluccan and Papuan food, music and handmade products. ➡️

✨ Tomorrow it starts! The Pop-Up Store at Rotterdam Central Station opens its doors ✨️

All week long you can find my paper goodies collection there — filled with warm colours, familiar Indo vibes and illustrations with a story behind them. And the best part: I’ll be there in person on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 – 19:00. So come by, say hi and have a look! 🤩

For this post I’m sharing one of my favourite illustrations, created in collaboration with the Wereldmuseum. It’s part of a series of 8 illustrations that have been turned into postcards, now available in the museum shops of the Wereldmuseum in Leiden, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

In between markets and events, I had the pleasure of creating two beautiful covers this October and December, for 📖

Alongside a warm Christmas illustration, I also created an image for an article about SamSam Uitvaartcoaching — a volunteer organization supporting families with limited financial means in arranging funerals 🪔

It had been a while since I worked on editorial illustrations, but I truly love creating them. It’s special how my work can contribute to both light and heavier subjects ✨

From pasar malam to Rotterdam Central Station ✨

Together with other Indo entrepreneurs we’re transforming the pop-up store at Rotterdam Central Station into a week full of creativity, culture and community.

Usually, I sell my paper goodies collection at pasar malams. This time, we’re in the middle of one of the busiest stations in the Netherlands — a place where thousands of people pass by every day.

It’s an opportunity to reach new audiences, to share stories about the Indo, Moluccan an Papoua community in the Netherlands, and to make conversations about our colonial history with Indonesia more accessible.

I’d love to see you there next week:
