— from the series Métal “Metal 3”
Oil on canvas, 55 x 55 cm, 1999

Two wings emerge from a silvery surface — somewhere between apparition and structure, fragility and force.

Painted in 1999, this work balances on the edge of abstraction and figuration. The wings may suggest freedom, protection, disappearance, or transformation. Their presence is deliberately uncertain — like a trace left in the air.

The restrained palette of whites, greys and pale blues creates a muted atmosphere where light becomes almost tactile. Matter dissolves into vibration

“Mercure envolé”
Oil on canvas, 57 x 57 cm, 1992
Private collection, France

A silent orbit suspended in a pale blue space.
Dark and golden fragments align like phases, eclipses, or broken planets crossing an invisible axis. Around them, two white forms open like wings, lungs, or a passage.

In Mercure envolé, geometry becomes poetic. The painting moves between astronomy and mythology, between balance and disappearance. Mercury — messenger, planet, metal, god — escapes definition and drifts into pure rhythm and light.

Painted in 1992, this work already carries the meditative and cosmic language that runs through much of my work: repetition, silence, movement, and the fragile architecture of space.

The Fietsdepot Amsterdam reveals the less romantic side of cycling culture in Amsterdam.

* 880,000+ bicycles in the city
* 15,000–20,000 bikes removed annually
* €25–€50 fee to recover a bike
* Up to 6 weeks storage, after which bikes are processed
* 50–100 removals per day in high-pressure areas

Behind the image of a “bike-friendly city” lies a system of control and constant clearance. Public space is regulated tightly: bikes that fall outside the rules are quickly removed, catalogued, and monetized.

The depot functions as a filter—deciding which objects remain part of the urban flow and which are excluded. Efficiency comes at a cost: thousands of bicycles are recycled or destroyed each year, raising questions about overproduction, disposability, and the pressure on shared space.

An infrastructure that keeps the city moving, but also exposes its limits.
