Installation of the drawings in the immensely large riding hall I have put up myself. Large scale works (100 x 70 cm) made especially for this exhibition - the choice of iconic subjects makes the pieces appear monumental and supportive to the wall space. Here I combine coffee ink lines with pastels which are giving powdery-gentle but colourful accents throughout the Riding Hall still leaving the brown of the coffee dominate and go along very well with the classical architecture.

Along with your after-dinner espresso, you can tryout the art of drawing with coffee pigment - I will demonstrate and guide you through my unique technique.

The dinner features a five-course menu curated by pizza master chefs Copain and Baldoria.

On Friday 24 and 31 July we also have a special after party by Sonan & Friends at the iconic Hollandsche Manege. This means diner + after party until 02:00.

A lineup of multi-faceted works arises when you reach the 4th floor, and you sense the intense physical relationship which these monolithic objects create with the room:

The side tables and stools from the series “MineralisM” by Aad Kruiswijk are functioning as both — fine art sculptures and collectible furniture. They are made of solid wood and steel, featuring sharp geometric planes, referring to gemstones or geological formations.

These ‘crystals’ - or how the artist is calling them within his visionary concept of mineralogy - are breaking ambient light into gradations and shadows with their flat surfaces and crystalline structures.

Seen in the context of art, architecture, and design, the series “MineralisM” is referring to Minimalist Sculpture (Minimal Art of the 1960’s) and Cubism (Geometric Abstraction, early 20th century). But these blocky works trace back much further than modern art to the mathematical drawings of the High Renaissance. Like masters as Leonardo da Vinci were fascinated by geometric solids, Aad Kruiswijk explores the boundaries of surfaces and how raw geometric volumes take up space.

The dual nature of this series directly refers to the artist’s background who was trained at the Hout en Meubileringscollege before graduating at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Aad Kruiswijk lives and works in Amsterdam. His artistic tech-practice is breaking down natural forms using a robot-arm, fracturing objects from several angles into intersecting geometric planes (see video).

“MineralisM” is part of the exhibition GROUND, which opened last weekend by MadArt Foundation in the ArtSpace/Metzbuilding, Amsterdam.
Offered to your view and consideration for your interior and art-collection.
