𝕬𝖗𝖙 𝖋𝖔𝖗 𝖑𝖚𝖓𝖈𝖍

“Night” - the current exhibition of 𝕸𝖆𝖚𝖗𝖎𝖟𝖎𝖔 𝕮𝖆𝖙𝖙𝖊𝖑𝖆𝖓 showing in Mies van der Rohe’s architecture | Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin.

I entered during lunchtime to have some 𝔄𝔯𝔱 𝔣𝔬𝔯 𝔩𝔲𝔫𝔠𝔥 to feed my mind.

The exhibition triggers contrast feelings we have when confronted with death, neediness, ethical concerns. Here, inside the high-end-style gallery for contemporary art, I notice the same shivers I get when I hastily walk the city. In the exhibition, I can contemplate on what I feel. The works are stopping me with their absurd simplicity or Déjà vu-effect. Yes, I notice pigeons on buildings and in train stations, and I wonder how these spectators survive urbanism. I pass human shapes completely covered with clothing and guess for a moment is it a stranded tourist, a homeless or even a corps. I also was thinking that also Hi**er was once a child with a blank future and little kid features which triggered our protective instincts.

The most time I was spending staring at the fallen eagle with broken wings. The most recent German election results came to my mind.

Red and blue iteration of Kusama’s legendary “Infinity Nets” motif: Kusama created these net-paintings using countless individual, repetitive brushstrokes - meticulously hand-painted orange loops over a black background. This technique forms a translucent, undulating web across the canvas, producing a hypnotic illusion of depth, rhythmic motion, and expansion. This artistic practice acted as a physical manifestation of Kusama’s continuous internal obsessions and hallucinations, turning canvas boundaries into windows of infinite space.

Installation of the drawings in the immensely large riding hall I have put up myself. Large scale works (100 x 70 cm) made especially for this exhibition - the choice of iconic subjects makes the pieces appear monumental and supportive to the wall space. Here I combine coffee ink lines with pastels which are giving powdery-gentle but colourful accents throughout the Riding Hall still leaving the brown of the coffee dominate and go along very well with the classical architecture.
