Talent development platform Super-Sonic Jazz started in 2016 as a series of concerts and club nights at the legendary venue Paradiso Amsterdam to provide a stage for the new wave of contemporary jazz musicians in the city. An annual festival and the launch of the independent record label Super-Sonic Jazz Records followed. With experimental programming that blends traditional jazz with contemporary

genres such as hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B and electronic music, Super-Sonic Jazz pushes the boundaries of what jazz culture means to listeners, enthusiasts and artists alike.

Yesterday’s Super-Sonic Series X Dune Sessions X ITGWO show rehearsal. Our rehearsal space got canceled but luckily Skatecafe Karin & Yvonne came to the rescue, big ups!

The band is ready to return to Vlieland and give you a preview of what is to come for the Super-Sonic Series compilation album.
Come check it out this Saturday, 29th of August.

On August 29, all artists participating in the Super-Sonic Series Project are travelling back to Vlieland, where it all started, to jam with 𝗗𝗨𝗡𝗘 𝘌𝘓𝘌𝘊𝘛𝘙𝘖𝘕𝘐𝘊 𝘚𝘌𝘚𝘚𝘐𝘖𝘕𝘚 at .

The project kicked off with a five-day residency on Vlieland, where the group wrote, jammed and camped together, drawing inspiration from the island’s wind, dunes, water and silence, organized by Super-Sonic Jazz, & .

Right now we reached the second phase of Super-Sonic Series, where the artists are recording their music at The Womb Studio in The Hague. Each artist is now taking the lead on one composition, while the wider group remains closely involved in bringing each piece to life.

This weekend the super group will showcase some of their new material, weaving it through a jam session, improvising on the spot.

The album is almost ready to be pressed! Stay tuned…

Quintet SML featuring bassist Anna Butterss, synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, saxophonist Josh Johnson, percussionist Booker Stardrum and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann are coming to Super-Sonic Jazz Festival on Friday, November 20.

Emerging from Los Angeles’ vibrant jazz, improvised and indie music scene, the band brings something fresh to every performance. No two sets are the same, as everything is improvised in the moment.

Their debut album, Small Medium Large, was recorded during early live performances at Los Angeles venue ETA and released in 2024 to widespread critical acclaim. Their follow-up, How You Been, arrived in 2025, further expanding the band’s sonic universe while capturing the energy and spontaneity of their dynamic live performances.

Super-Sonic Series recording session for Quincy Fung-Loy’s track together with BNNYHUNNA, Siegfried Hart, Lezaam Beets and Gino-Cochise at The Womb Studio.

Super-Sonic Series has reached the second phase of the project: recording. After the writing camp in Vlieland, where the group wrote, jammed and camped together, each artist is now taking the lead on recording one composition, while the wider group remains closely involved in bringing each piece to life.

Three days before the release of ‘Here Because of Hope’, Super-Sonic Jazz invites you to an exclusive evening with
Ezra Collective at murmur.

In murmur’s intimate, living-room-like space, we’ll listen to the new record together with the artists, followed by a conversation with the band, moderated by Joygail Radio, unpacking the stories, ideas and musical worlds behind the album.

Across their fourth studio album, Ezra Collective move from
West African grooves and Caribbean rhythms to the sound of
their home city, London. It’s a record about the journey from
pain to joy, with hope as its connecting force, marking a new
chapter for the first jazz act to win the Mercury Prize and later be named Group of the Year at the BRIT Awards.

After the listening session and Q&A, Femi Koleoso takes
over the decks. Super Sonic Soundsystem, a rotating line up of DJs from our community, sets the tone before and around the program.

Note that this is not a live concert. It’s an intimate encounter
with Ezra Collective and their new music.

We’re still thinking about WAZO BEAN at Super-Sonic Showcase Fest! The band took us to the deep sea and beyond with their sea snail presentation and mesmerizing sound.
This August WAZO BEAN released their first single Rose cut Rose available on Bandcamp, but we can’t wait to listen to more of their music in our headphones.

Let’s Dance! Super-Sonic Jam: In the Name of the Moluccan Diaspora is back, this time in .

Sunday September 20th we invite you to an evening honoring and celebrating the Moluccan diaspora through music, jamming, dance, food and community.
