FIBER is an audiovisual network festival which concentrates on the integration of media art and electronic music.

The currents are taking shape 〰️ here is our ADE lineup! From Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 October, FIBER, CTM Festival, In:Resonance, 4DSOUND, Ambrio — Spatial Mixer, and invite you to Currents, a four-day spatial sound listening event in the Bagagehal of Kunstwerk Loods6, a formerKunstwerk Loods6se transformed into a mutating listening and performance space.

From the constant movement of people to the imperceptible shaping of landscapes, currents are forces that push us forward. We’ve invited a lineup of local and international artists to work with three sound systems and shifting configurations, composing and performing for the length of the concrete hall. Bringing together the subtle omnidirectional soundsystems of in:resonance and 4DSOUND with the soulful speakers and powerful low-end frequencies of Amsterdam-based Sol Systems, we want to pause and sense the currents that have brought us here.

What happens when space becomes an instrument?

In the Bagagehal of the monumental Kunstwerk Loods6, each footstep travels the full stretch of 78 metres of concrete. Built in 1921 to move cargo through the harbour, and later a passenger terminal where journeys began before travellers boarded the ships, the hall was made for a century of things passing through it. Nowadays, it is a distinct cultural venue focused on experimentation.

During Amsterdam Dance Event, architecture becomes a resonating body, defying the standard of a fixed stage and audience, or sound that travels in one direction. Between 22–25 October, we invite you to experience this 100 year-old harbour hall and passenger terminal as a mutating instrument.

Every surface, every nook and cranny, with its texture and traces, shapes the spatial sound encounter, while a constellation of artists compose and perform specifically for the space. Sit, lie down on the floor, or walk along, and envelop yourself in sonic currents.

📣 Only a few more days are left to apply to our first three Futures of Listening residency open calls.

Each offers one artist, maker or studio a funded period this coming winter and spring. During this, residents can conduct research at the intersection of spatial sound and immersive experience, with access to the 4DSOUND system and support from spatial audio specialists.

If you’re a NL-based sound artist, designer, composer or maker with an interest in ecology, architecture, or non-linear storytelling, we invite you to apply. Experience with spatial sound is welcome but not required.

Save the date: Currents 〰️Futures of Listening at ADE 2026
22–25 October · Loods6, Amsterdam

For this year’s 30th edition of , we transform the concrete Bagagehall of into a mutating spatial listening and performance space.

Located on the edge of the IJ, Loods6 is a former passenger and freight terminal shaped by decades of things passing through. The building’s concrete floors, washed walls, and vast corridors will serve as the starting point for how we experience sound. During ADE, these industrial elements will turn historical architecture into a living instrument.

The programme brings together three evenings of spatial live and DJ sets, two days of workshops, demos and meetups, and three sound system configurations, each one shaping a different way to listen.

FIBER is looking for a talented intern who would like to further grow in marketing and communication, with a focus on content creation, documentation and social media.

Can you bring our content to life through social media using written and audiovisual material? Do you enjoy writing and are you interested in projects at the intersection of art, performance, technology and ecology? Are you able to create rich online content with a focus on video? Are you curious about the inner workings of FIBER? Then get involved!

As an intern, you will be part of a wide variety of our daily communications activities, ranging from developing content for our social media channels, updating our website, editing videos, writing editorial articles, maintaining archiving and documentation, and much more. It’s a big plus if you are already familiar with image and video editing softwares like Canva, Adobe CS and Figma, or have dedication to learn it.

Hours: 24h per week
Start date: 1 October 2026
Duration: 6 months

We are thrilled to launch three open calls for artists, makers, composers and creators based in the Netherlands. The funded residencies take place within the framework of Futures of Listening, a new platform supporting emerging developments in spatial sound, immersive experiences, performance, and installation art.

Each residency offers the opportunity to realise innovative research at the intersection of spatial sound and immersive experience, with possible outcomes ranging from prototypes, instruments and new methodologies to installations, data-driven sonic works, and spatial audio compositions.

Your residency consists of 25 working days spread over three months. During this time, you will conduct artistic research, explore sound/immersive experiments, and work towards the development of a work based on the proposal in your application.

Ice-breakoff events from glaciers and landslides are becoming more frequent as the climate changes. These events generate infrasound that moves across the planet, far below the range of human hearing. This residency invites one artist, designer or maker working with sound to explore spatial sound in relation to seismology, climate and discharge-related acoustics.

What can sound tell us about the systems we live inside – ecological, social, more-than-human? What can spatial sound do on its own terms, as an immersive medium for narrative and for thinking?

Spatial sound can create conditions for rich sensory experience and invite new ways of collective listening. Whereas thinking about immersion often begins in the realm of spatial imagery (XR, VR, AR), Futures of Listening is grounded in spatial sound and explores its immersive and narrative possibilities, particularly in relation to urgent ecological and social issues.

Through four interconnected research areas, residencies and open calls, Futures of Listening will create spaces for experimentation, research and presentation. It will explore how this rapidly growing form of art calls for new instruments, accessible systems and interdisciplinary collaborations, while asking how spatial sound can become more inclusive, and open to diverse ways of hearing.

Breath, metal, stone, static. For four days, fragile forces resonated through Amsterdam. This was FIBER Festival 2026.
