You'd think all good things must come to an end. COVID was a pretty difficult time for all and DanceDiscover was no exception. However, Music and Creativity have remained synonymous with the direction of this platform I am pleased to reintroduce the 86th addition to this mix series. Expect more from this channel over the next year :)
I've been good friends with Lucas, one half of Entelechia for a while now and he was one of the main reasons as to why DD started. (Check out his earlier work from Mono-Tone Dance_discover – Yamuna)
Entelechia is a brand new electronic music project from Lausanne (CH). The music they play live or mix in DJ sets is straightforward, radical but sensible. "It all started approx. one year ago when we started to play electronic music jams together with our synths and sequencers. With this project we are investigating sounds and rhythms in order to reach the authenticity of dancing, something elementary and vitalist."

Price is a DJ based in London but was a close friend of mine at university and another one of those influential figureheads that introduced me to the wider world of electronic music.

For this mix, he has opted for tracks on the funkier side of his record collection. The mix moves through disco, jazz funk and boogie, featuring classic artists like Patrice Rushen, Charles Earland, Gene Dunlap and Evans Pyramid (to name a few).

Back in Southampton, I could always count on him to deliver fresh new sounds and with this mix he certainly doesn’t disappoint!

Irish native and electro specialist High Fidelity is known for his abstract electro and techno productions, which hugely complement the fast-paced energy found in his sets.

What Goes Up are a collective based out of Edinburgh that focuses on promoting the best up-and-coming artists in electronic music. After a successful mix series over the last year, the group has been working hard on the release of their new VA Compilation which is all in aid of mental health in Scotland. The VA will be released on Bandcamp on February 28th. All proceeds from all tracks will be going to the charity SAMH directly.

2020 has been a strange year; one which almost put the music scene to a standstill but something that has inspired me to continue this channel is seeing the large successes of some of my personal friends. Joey has been one of the few people in my life that has helped me grow musically; going where few dared and brought fresh, new (and squelchy) sounds to my university town of Southampton, U.K. Through him and his fantastic team at Dock34, they collectively opened the doors for many genres for many people in a non-pretentious and safe way. DanceDiscover's mantra has always been centered around the education and discovery of music, for this reason, I couldn't think of anyone better to close off 2020.
