Ik ben een liefhebber van Loricariidae, die ook wel L-nummers worden genoemd. Ik vind het fascinerend om het gedrag van deze soorten te observeren. Gewoon genieten en kijken in alle stilte naar de diversiteit van de natuur. De diversiteit van de vissoorten die hier leven maken mij, als sinds mijn eerste “golden nugget” 15 jaar geleden, liefhebber van deze
veelzijdige rivier. In mijn ogen een van de meeste bijzondere rivieren ter wereld. Ik verzorg enkel L-nummers uit de Rio Xingu. Ik probeer bij het houden van deze soorten altijd het aquarium zoveel als mogelijk in te richten zoals hun natuurlijke habitat/leefomgeving. Ik vind dit van belang voor hun welzijn in het uitoefenen van mijn hobby. Mijn drijfveer om Rio Xingu soorten te houden en te verzorgen komt voort uit dat veel van deze L-nummers met uitsterven worden bedreigd. Deze bedreiging is ontstaan doordat in 2016 de Belo Monte dam in gebruik is genomen. Door het droogleggen van de Volta Grande zijn complete leefomgevingen van L-nummers verloren gegaan. Dit unieke deel van de rivier was voor vele L-nummers hun leefgebied. Maar ook in andere delen van de Rio Xingu wordt hier hinder van ondervonden door oplopend sediment. Met als gevolg dat veel soorten in de Rio Xingu het moeilijk hebben om te overleven. Momenteel verzorg ik de onderstaande Rio Xingu L-nummers:

Ik heb geen commercieel belang of de intentie om vanuit commercieel oogpunt te willen handelen. Dit is voor mij puur een hobby die ik met passie uitoefen, waarbij ik het welzijn van de vissen hoog in het vaandel heb.

I am a lover of Loricariid, which people also often refer to as L numbers. What I find fascinating about them is to observe the behavior of all these species. Simply enjoy and watch the diversity of mother nature in silence. I have a huge soft spot for fish from the Rio Xingu. The diversity of the species that live there has made me a fan of this river since my first “golden nugget” 15 years ago. In my opinion one of the most special rivers in the world. I only keep and take care of L-numbers from the Xingu river. When keeping these species I always try to shape the aquarium as much as possible, like their natural habitat. I believe this is important for their well-being in captivity. My motivation to keep and care Rio Xingu species also stems from the fact that many of these L-numbers are nowadays in danger of extinction. This threat arose because the Belo Monte dam has been operational since 2016. As a result, complete habitats of L numbers have been lost, because the Volta Grande has been virtually drained for this purpose. This unique part of the river was a habitat for many L numbers. But also other parts of the Rio Xingu are having problems with increasing sediment levels. As a result, many species in the Rio Xingu currently have a hard time surviving.
