Ascential Arts was founded in 2008 with a fervent desire to further the diversity of arts programming in the bustling Colorado suburbs. We strive to engage individuals and populations in need of tour services in meaningful, multifaceted arts experiences. The school strives to offer a progressive artistic education, fusing traditional and contemporary syllabi and comprising a complete “living” cur
riculum. As students further their skills in combining language, movement, color & sound expressively, they study and utilize dance terminology, history, anthropology, music theory, movement analysis, choreography, improvisation, drawing, painting, craft making, recycling, repurposing, anatomy & spatial perception as tools to enhance their learning and growth. In addition to our commitment to progressive historical and physical education, an “ascential” portion of our approach centers on our relationship with the public, as we work to generate and facilitate discussion, serve through our outreach programs, and engage with diverse populations through special projects. The combined efforts of these activities aim to encourage the development of forward-thinking artistic individuals and communities, who enjoy and admire the arts. We strongly endorse work-place values and teach our students accountability and respectful communication. Our students acquire invaluable skills intended to serve them as they grow into mature, informed, and honorable professionals regardless of the path they choose in life. Ascential Arts has shifted over the years to accommodate for diverse educational needs. We are now a ‘virtual school’ in residence in Colorado (Boulder and Denver), Miami, and also Ometepe, Nicaragua. In Central America, we are teaching our unique curriculum in small villages, now reaching over 250 students ages two to sixty-five. Because we are teaching physical, visual, performing and language arts in these diverse settings, our educational methodology is community-based, serving the particular needs and interests of the population with which we are engaging, and not our own agenda. We strive to discover the ‘vibe’ of our classes and students by contemplating strengths, innate capacities, and appropriate course challenges. Subsequently, we allow space for proposal, in-depth study, discourse, growth, realization & individuality. English, Spanish, Dance, Art, Music, Theatre classes are offered based on the curriculums specifically developed by the host schools and/or presenters.
