AKWA IBOM GREEN LEGACY INITIATIVE HAS BEGUN
ON THE 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2026 Spiral Hope Universal Foundation (SHUF) launched the One Million Economic Trees Planting Pɾσʝҽƈƚ , a 12-month movement to plant productive and economic trees across the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.
This is more than a tree-planting campaign. It is a call to build food security, household income, environmental resilience, carbon sequestration, biodiversity and intergenerational wealth. 0ne tree at a time. It also complements the wider development conversation already taking place around agriculture and tree crops in Akwa Ibom. The State Government has identified tree-crop development as part of its agricultural and economic diversification agenda.
OUR CALL TO AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT
We call on the Akwa Ibom State Gσʋҽɾɳɱҽɳƚ to embrace this initiative as a complementary community-driven platform and provide the institutional partnership, technical support, seedlings, financing and coordination required to scale the vision across the State.
Government cannot do it alone, and civil society cannot do it alone.
OUR CALL TO NIGERIA
We invite governments, private-sector leaders, foundations, development organisations, universities, schools, farmers, media organisations and citizens across Nigeria to make productive tree planting part of our national development conversation.
A tree can become food, income, shade, habitat, carbon storage and an asset for the next ɠҽɳҽɾαƚισɳ.
The vision connects naturally with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnerships)
THE MOVEMENT GROW
Plant a tree. Nurture a tree. Protect a tree. Support someone planting a tree.
One Million Trees. One Future. One Green Legacy.
