HOW I GOT A CLIENT ON A FLIGHT FROM LAGOS! ✈️

Two years ago, I created a one-of-a-kind masterpiece for a client in Lagos, with a coconut shell as the centerpiece. But guys, let me tell you how I got that job!

Bring ya chairs and popcorn 😂

You know, I get this motion sickness, when ever I travel, Whether I'm travelling by plane, bus, or boat, my body can embarrass me😂 I start feeling nauseous, sweating, and sometimes I feel like I'm going to vomit.

So, on this particular day, I was returning from Lagos to Akwa Ibom, and this man happened to be on the same flight.

Now, you know me, I love talking about my business. So before the flight took off, I was already showing him pictures of my work and telling him what I do.

Fast-forward to when the plane was moving, this man noticed that I was holding the seat so tightly, breathing heavily because I was feeling sick already. He held my hands and kept telling me, “Calm down, Breathe in, breathe out.”

Honestly, I was just trying to survive that flight, couldn’t wait to come down😭

But guess what? In the middle of everything, we got talking, and he told me his friend's birthday was coming up and he wanted to surprise her with something special, something unique, customised with her business name.

And I said, Why not? I'm available ooo

Guys, at that moment, I didn't even have the full idea of what I wanted to create, I had to go back home, think it through, sketch my ideas, get my canvas, take my measurements, prepare the wood, and bring everything together.

And the result? A beautiful, limited-edition masterpiece with a coconut shell as the centerpiece!

The man loved it, and the woman who received it as a gift absolutely loved it too. ❤️

And the most beautiful thing? It's a one-of-one piece. You won't find another one exactly like it anywhere. Never 👎

Now, this is why I'm sharing this story.

Sometimes, your next customer is sitting right beside you. Your next opportunity might come from a conversation you almost didn't have.

If I had kept quiet about my business on that flight, who knows if I would have gotten that job?

So, please, wherever you find yourself, talk about what you do. Show people your work. Tell them about your business. You don't know who might become your customer, refer you to someone, or open a door for you.

Don't hide the gift God has given you, Let people know what you do

Because sometimes, one simple conversation can change something for your business. ❤️

Congratulations to me guys😃
I made it 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

Sometimes, we apply for an opportunity without knowing what it will lead to. We just take the step, hoping for the best. Looking back now, I am so grateful that I took that step and applied for the SheLeads Green Jobs Fellowship, Cohort 1, hosted by The Ebaidebheki Initiative.

Honestly, when I applied for this fellowship, I didn't know what the future held for me. I didn't know the doors that would open, the people I would meet, or how much the experience would change my journey.

Today, as we come to the end of our 17-week journey and celebrate our graduation, my heart is full of gratitude. ❤️

Thank you, The Ebaidebheki Initiative, for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Thank you for creating a platform where women like me can learn, grow, connect, and discover new possibilities within the green economy.

This fellowship gave me more than knowledge. It gave me connections, exposure, and opportunities.

One of the most beautiful parts of this journey was getting the opportunity to connect with Madam Bilkisu Garba, the CEO of The Upcycle Architect. Meeting her was something I had looked forward to for a very long time. I had admired her work and what she was doing in the upcycling space, and getting to learn from her was a dream come true for me.

Through this fellowship, I got the opportunity to intern with her, learn from her experience, and gain more insight into the work I am passionate about.

And the beautiful part? Through her recommendation, I got an opportunity to facilitate an upcycling training under the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and ActionAid.

Just imagine oooo, An application I submitted without knowing what would come out of it eventually connected me to people and opportunities that have become important parts of my journey.

Sometimes, one opportunity is all it takes to open the door to another.

These 17 weeks have been filled with learning, growth, new experiences, and valuable lessons. I have learned more about the green economy, climate action, sustainability, and the possibilities that exist when we begin to see waste differently.

I have also come to understand that the work I have been doing through Audrey's Craft and the vision I carry for Craftopia are part of something much bigger than creating beautiful products from discarded materials.

For me, it has always been about seeing value where others may see waste, creating opportunities, teaching people practical skills, and showing that what we throw away can still become something useful, beautiful, and valuable.

And now, I am looking forward to what comes next.

My vision is to keep growing Craftopia into a bigger space where people, especially young people and women, can come to learn about recycling and upcycling, explore their creativity, gain practical skills, and discover opportunities to earn from waste.

I want to build a place where schools can come for educational visits, where people can see what is possible with discarded materials, and where learning, creativity, environmental awareness, and business can come together.

I know that building this vision will take time, resources, commitment, and a lot of work. But I am encouraged by how far I have come and the people and experiences that have become part of my story.

To The Ebaidebheki Initiative, the fellowship facilitators, mentors, partners, and everyone who contributed to making this journey worthwhile, thank you for being part of my story.

To Madam Bilkisu Garba, thank you for the opportunity to learn from you and for the recommendation that helped open another door for me. I am truly grateful.

And to my fellow SheLeads Green Jobs Fellowship Cohort 1 fellows, congratulations to us Girls💃🏻, We started this journey as participants, but we are leaving with new knowledge, new connections, and new possibilities.

May we put everything we have learned into practice and create meaningful change wherever we find ourselves.🙏

As I graduate from this fellowship, I am not just celebrating a certificate. I am celebrating growth, opportunities, answered prayers, and the courage to keep building the vision God has placed in my heart.

I am ready for the next chapter. Bring it on guys😀

Guyssss💃🏻💃🏻
Finally

17 weeks later… I’m graduating.

This Saturday, I’ll be graduating from the She Leads Green Jobs Fellowship 2026, organised by The Ebaidebheki Initiative (TEI)

And honestly, when I look back, I realise that I learnt so much more than I expected.

I joined the fellowship with my own understanding of sustainability, waste, creativity and green jobs, but the fellowship opened my mind to so many other areas.

We talked about climate change and climate action, the green economy, green jobs, sustainable cities, environmental issues, tree planting, agroforestry, ecosystem restoration, climate-smart agriculture, waste management and so much more.

Some of these things were completely outside what I normally do.

There were also sessions that made me think beyond just What I can make from waste and start asking bigger questions like, How do we create systems that actually help people live more sustainably😊

How do we get people to properly separate their waste, How do we make people understand why waste separation matters, create jobs around environmental problems, get young people involved?
How do we make sustainability something people practise every day and not just something we talk about?

I also learnt about things like project planning, logframes, monitoring and evaluation, and how to properly think about and structure an idea beyond just having a good intention.

One thing I really enjoyed was meeting women who are doing completely different things from me but are also contributing to a greener future in their own ways.

It reminded me that there is no one way to work in the green space.

For me, my own work has always been around seeing value in what people throw away. But now I understand even more that there is a whole world around that.

I’m grateful for the facilitators who took their time to teach us, explain things in ways we could understand, answer our questions and patiently take us through the different sessions.

I’m also grateful for the friendships, the conversations, the networking, the mentorship, the internship, and the different experiences that came with being part of this cohort.

17 weeks is not a very long time, but a lot can happen in 17 weeks.

I came in ready to learn, and I’m leaving with a broader understanding of climate, sustainability and green jobs, new connections, new ideas and a bigger picture of where my own work fits into the green economy.

So yes, this Saturday, I’ll be wearing my graduation Sage🥹🎓

Not because I now know everything, but because I have completed another stage of learning.

And I know there is still so much more to learn and do.

Thank you The Ebaidebheki Initiative for creating this opportunity and for bringing women from different parts of Nigeria together to learn and connect.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🥂🎓

Finally 💃🏻

We have officially come to the end of our training with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and ActionAid Nigeria.

Honestly, this training was more than just teaching people how to make products.

We spent weeks learning, creating, trying new things, making mistakes, correcting them and, most importantly, seeing that there is actually VALUE in materials that many people consider waste.

From storage boxes, vases, picture frames, decorated w**e bottles, earrings, bangles, hair accessories, mini shelves, toilet paper holders, Ankara bags, wallets and more, we created so many beautiful and useful products, and almost everything was done manually, using simple hand tools.

One thing I really wanted the participants to understand is that you don't need expensive machines or a huge amount of money to start creating.

Many of the materials we worked with are things we can easily find around us, from cartons, bottles, plastic materials, fabric, paper and other materials that would normally end up as waste.

And the beautiful part is that these materials are not only accessible, they can also be turned into products people are willing to buy.

That is the part I love most about this whole process.

It is not just about making crafts.
It is about learning how to see opportunities in what others throw away, creating something useful from it, and turning that skill into an income.

I am so grateful to the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and ActionAid Nigeria for making this training possible and for giving these young people the opportunity to learn, create and explore the possibilities within the green economy.

Thank you for trusting me to facilitate this training and for giving me the opportunity to share what I have learnt and practised over the years.

And to my trainees, thank you for showing up, participating, trying, laughing, learning and creating with me. ❤️

I am genuinely proud of what we were able to create together.

Waste can become a resource, Skills can become income, And creativity can create opportunities.

This is how we turn waste to wealth.
