Ikot Ekpene Showcases Cultural Grandeur at Christmas Unplugged 3.0

Ikot Ekpene, fondly known as the Raffia City, delivered a powerful and elegant cultural showcase on Day 14 of the recently concluded Christmas Unplugged 3.0, reaffirming its reputation as a hub of artistic excellence and cultural pride in Akwa Ibom State.

Recognized as the premier Local Government Area in West Africa since 1951, Ikot Ekpene once again demonstrated why it holds such a distinguished place in history. The presentation highlighted the community’s enduring commitment to its heritage, particularly its globally celebrated raffia craftsmanship, which remains a defining symbol of the area’s identity.

Despite the influence of modern civilization, the people of Ikot Ekpene have sustained a remarkable connection to their ancestral roots. This balance was vividly expressed through their display of some of the most striking cultural elements of the festival, including the unveiling of the largest masquerade masks featured in this year’s edition—the iconic Nkuba Masks.

These towering works of art stood as a testament to the community’s creativity, technical skill, and deep cultural symbolism.

The showcase communicated a clear message: in Ikot Ekpene, artistry knows no limits. Every handcrafted piece reflected a philosophy of resilience, innovation, and pride in tradition. United in presentation and purpose, the performers and artisans told their story with subtlety, strength, and unmistakable elegance.

Indeed, Ikot Ekpene proved once more that impossibility has no place in its artistic vocabulary.

New Stars Born at the Arise Creative Champions Finale!

Last night, the spotlight wasn’t just bright — it blazed.

At the grand finale of Arise Creative Champions 1.0, a fresh constellation of talent emerged on stage. The event, hosted under the electrifying atmosphere of Christmas Unplugged 3.0, saw brilliant performances across six creative categories: music, dance, comedy, spoken word, acting, and fine arts.

From breathtaking dance routines to powerful spoken-word pieces, the stage was lit with the fire of emerging champions who are truly ready to take on the world. Audiences cheered, hearts soared, and dreams edged closer to reality.
But it wasn’t just applause that winners walked away with — they also received life-changing cash prizes:
🥇 ₦500,000 for the winners in each category
🥈 ₦300,000 for first runners-up
🥉 ₦200,000 for second runners-up
And there was more good news.

In a generous show of support, Dr. Anieti Udofia, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, and Mr. David Sergeant collectively stepped up with an extra ₦1 million to augment the prize pool — making this edition even more impactful for the talents involved.
