Now let’s talk about sickle cell
Sickle cell anaemia is a group of disorder that causes red blood cell to become misshapen and breakdown. With SCD an inherited group of disordered red blood cell contort into a sickle shape. The cells dies early leaving a shortage of healthy red blood cells, and can block blood flow causing pain(sickle cell disease).
Now having known what a sickle cell Anaemia is, the next question that pops in should be what are the causes of this. So yeah let’s discuss about this.
SCD is a genetic condition that is present at birth. It is inherited when a child receives two genes-one from each parent that code for abnormal haemoglobin(it is the iron rich compound in the red blood cell that allow the flow of oxygen from the lungs to every body part), which is why it is very important to know the genotype of your partner before further proceeds.
Before any two adult should go into courtship, it is very important to knw the trait of each other.
Well as it is seen, due to ignorance, lack of information, or beliefs, some persons do not consider this an important factor to be checked.
Having known the causes, lets take a look at compatible genotypes. Genotype refers to the genetic makeup of an organism. The genotype in humans are AA, AS, AC, SS while the rare types are SC and CC. They refer to the haemoglobin gene constituent on the red blood cell.

A carrier of SCD is more likely to fall sick more often, and can suffer the risk of vision problems, frequent infections, episodes of pains etc, in some case leads to death
However it is advisable in some case that pregnant women with SCD should go for PRETERM BIRTH OR DELIVERIES to avoid complications, and in some case death of either the mother or the baby or even both.
However this is where the good-news comes in, for every SCD carrier, it can be cured by a process called STEM CELL(stem cells are special cells produced by bone marrow, a spongy tissue found in the center of some bone)OR BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT.But they are not done very often because of the significant risk involved.
