UNIOSUN Alumni Congratulates Governor Adeleke on Re-election, Calls for Increased Support for the University

The Osun State University Alumni Association warmly congratulates the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his well-deserved re-election.

The Association appreciates the Governor’s consistent support for Osun State University through various interventions, as well as his demonstrated commitment to preserving the autonomy of the University. These efforts have contributed significantly to the stability, growth and development of the institution.

Indeed, UNIOSUN has continued to record remarkable milestones under his administration. Its recent ranking as the 19th university in Nigeria is a testament to the institution’s growing stature, resilience and commitment to academic excellence.

As Governor Adeleke begins another term in office, the Alumni Association respectfully calls on his administration to do even more for UNIOSUN. We look forward to increased investment in infrastructure, academic development, staff welfare, research and other critical areas that will further strengthen the University and consolidate its position among Nigeria’s leading institutions.

The Alumni Association remains a willing and committed partner in the development of the University and pledges its continued support for the Adeleke administration in all efforts that promote education, institutional excellence and the sustainable development of Osun State.

ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH – AUGUST 2026

DR. DAMOLA ADEGBOYE (DAMOLA IS MY NAME)

The Osun State University Alumni Association proudly celebrates Dr. Damola Adegboye, popularly known as Damola Is My Name, as the Alumnus of the Month for August 2026.

Dr. Damola Adegboye is a highly respected Corporate Compere, Stand-up Comedian, and Academic Researcher whose career has successfully bridged the worlds of entertainment and scholarship. With over a decade of professional experience, he has established himself as one of Nigeria's most sought-after event hosts, delivering excellence across corporate, social, and religious platforms.

Over the years, Damola has hosted high-profile events for leading organizations across diverse sectors, including oil and gas, banking, telecommunications, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs), and government institutions. His clientele includes renowned brands and organizations such as TotalEnergies, Shell, Chevron, MTN, Airtel, Stanbic IBTC, Premium Trust Bank, First Bank of Nigeria, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and the Lagos State Government, among many others.

Beyond the corporate space, Damola has distinguished himself as an outstanding entertainer at exclusive social gatherings of high-net-worth individuals and major religious events, consistently creating engaging and memorable experiences for diverse audiences.

As a stand-up comedian, his impressive portfolio includes performances at notable comedy platforms such as Amsterdam Must Laugh, Halifax Must Laugh, Bolton Must Laugh (Canada), Alibaba's January 1st Concert, and AY Live, among several others. He has also graced prominent religious platforms, including performances at The Experience and many other notable gatherings.

In 2022, Damola successfully hosted his maiden comedy show, Damola Is My Name Live, at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event attracted over 500 attendees and significant corporate support. Building on this success, the show has continued to grow remarkably and is scheduled to hold again in 2026 at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Academically, Damola exemplifies excellence. He graduated with a First Class Degree in Political Science from Osun State University and subsequently served as a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the same institution for six years. He also holds a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan and recently completed a PhD in Political Science at Lagos State University. His academic accomplishments have enabled him to publish scholarly works and present papers at both local and international conferences and in reputable journals.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to community development, Damola founded The Adegboye Damola Initiative (TADI), a platform dedicated to supporting students in underserved communities through educational gifts, incentives, and empowerment programmes.

His dedication, professionalism, and excellence have earned him several recognitions, including the Wedding and Party MC of the Year 2024 Award presented by APPOEMN, among many other accolades.

With a unique blend of humour, intelligence, sensitivity, and maturity, Damola continues to raise the standard for corporate hosting, entertainment, and public engagement in Nigeria and beyond.

On 30 August 2026, Damola will host another edition of Damola Is My Name Live at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Guests can look forward to an unforgettable evening of laughter, music, and premium entertainment.

OSUN STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CONGRATULATES MR. AYANLEYE MAYOWA ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS HEAD OF DEPARTMENT

The Osun State University Alumni Association heartily congratulates our distinguished alumnus, Mr. Ayanleye Mayowa, on his well-deserved appointment as the Head of the Department of Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Office Management, and Business Administration at the Federal College of Education, Ìlawẹ̀-Èkìtì.

This appointment is a fitting recognition of his dedication, professional competence, and unwavering commitment to academic excellence. It reflects the confidence reposed in his leadership capacity and his consistent pursuit of institutional development.

Beyond this new responsibility, Mr. Ayanleye continues to make remarkable contributions to his institution through several strategic leadership roles. He currently serves as Director II of FCEILAWE Ventures Ltd, Chairman of the Sports Council, Chairman of the Staff Welfare Committee of the Vocational and Technical Education Department, Chairman of the Committee on the Design of Students’ Practical Template, and as a member of several key institutional committees. These roles underscore his passion for service, innovation, and organizational growth.

His excellence extends beyond academia. As a talented musician and a Nigeria National League referee, Mr. Ayanleye exemplifies the values of versatility, leadership, discipline, and service that Osun State University proudly instills in its graduates.

The Osun State University Alumni Association celebrates this remarkable milestone and joins family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers in wishing him wisdom, strength, and outstanding success in this new office. UNIOSUN Alumni Association Celebrates University’s Outstanding Performance in the 2026 Webometrics Ranking

The Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Alumni Association warmly congratulates the Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor, the Management, staff, students, alumni, and the entire University community on the University’s outstanding performance in the 2026 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

According to the latest ranking, UNIOSUN is now ranked 3,961st globally among more than 32,000 universities worldwide, 19th in Nigeria, and 136th in Africa. This remarkable achievement further reinforces the University’s growing reputation as a globally competitive institution committed to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community development.

This milestone is a reflection of the collective commitment, resilience, and dedication of every stakeholder within the University community. The Alumni Association particularly commends the Vice-Chancellor for his visionary leadership, as well as the Governing Council and the University’s Management for providing the strategic direction that continues to enhance the institution’s academic excellence, research visibility, digital presence, and international reputation.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI

It has become pertinent to address the concerns surrounding the recent actions and public statements of one of our former Presidents, Mr. Oriola Oladipupo Kabir. I have been inundated with calls and messages concerning his recent appearances on radio stations, where he articulated certain positions regarding the state of the Osun State University.

I wish to state unequivocally that the Alumni Association, under my leadership, has neither endorsed nor authorised such actions or statements. Mr. Oriola Oladipupo Kabir is not a spokesperson of the Alumni Association, and the views expressed by him do not represent the official position of the Association.

The Alumni Association remains committed to constructive engagement and will continue to explore appropriate internal mechanisms for addressing issues within the Association and in its relationship with the University Management.

Members of the public, and particularly our distinguished alumni, are therefore encouraged to take note that any views or positions expressed by individuals without formal authorisation from the Association should not be attributed to the Alumni Association.
