The lifeless bodies of the children said to be between 6 - 15 years were found inside the residence of a woman popularly known in the area as Prophetess of Goddess.
According to reports, a fourth child was rescued alive with the intervention of the President General of Ideani Community, Chief Paul Okoye in company of the Divisional Police Officer, Ogidi Division and rushed to a hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
The prophetess was later taken away by police operatives who arrived at the scene together with the Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area Mr Stanley Nkwoka.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, August 5.
Ikenga stated that the command has aunched a full-scale investigation into the incident to determine the circumstànces surrounding the deàths of the children.
The PPRO also confirmed that the suspèct was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
He extended the command’s condolences to the families of the deceased and sympathised with the community over the incident.
He urged the public to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and allow the Police to conclude their investigations.
