ASSOCIATION OF BENUE ENTERTAINERS (ABE) WORLDWIDE CONDEMNS RECENT ATTACKS, REAFFIRMS CONFIDENCE IN GOVERNOR ALIA'S SECURITY EFFORTS

The Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide issues this statement with profound grief and unequivocal condemnation following the recent horrific attack and tragic loss of innocent lives in Benue State.

These senseless acts of violence against our peaceful communities are abhorrent and represent a direct assault on the very fabric of our society, our shared humanity, and the cultural heritage we strive to protect and promote through entertainment. We stand in solidarity with the grieving families, friends, and communities devastated by this brutality. Our hearts ache for the victims, and we demand swift justice for these heinous crimes.

Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide calls upon the relevant security agencies to:

1. Investigate Diligently: Leave no stone unturned in pursuing and apprehending the perpetrators of these attacks.
2. Ensure Justice: Ensure that those responsible face the full, swift, and unrelenting force of the law.
3. Heighten Security: Immediately deploy and sustain enhanced security measures in vulnerable communities across Benue State to prevent further bloodshed and displacement.

During this period of immense pain and anxiety, ABE Worldwide urges the good people of Benue State to maintain hope and resilience. We acknowledge the deep-seated security challenges facing our beloved state. However, we firmly believe in the commitment and earnest efforts of His Excellency, Reverend Father Hyacinth Iormen Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State.

We have observed the Governor's consistent focus and proactive steps taken since assuming office to address the complex security situation. While the challenges are significant and deeply rooted, Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide is confident that Governor Alia understands the gravity of the crisis and is working tirelessly behind the scenes, in collaboration with security forces and stakeholders at all levels, to find lasting solutions.

We commend his administration's ongoing initiatives and encourage him to intensify all necessary measures to restore peace, security, and the freedom for our people to live, work, and thrive without fear in their ancestral homes. We believe in his dedication to resolving these challenges "in earnest," as he has consistently pledged.

Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide calls on all Benue citizens, both at home and in the diaspora, to remain united, vigilant, and supportive of lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace. We must not succumb to despair or division. We encourage continued cooperation with security agencies and the provision of relevant information to aid their work.

As entertainers and cultural ambassadors, we pledge to use our platforms to promote messages of peace, tolerance, unity, and hope during this difficult time. We stand ready to support initiatives by the State Government aimed at healing, reconciliation, and rebuilding.

Benue State will overcome this darkness. We urge continued prayers for the victims, their families, our security forces, and for divine wisdom and strength for Governor Alia and his administration as they work to secure our state.

RESOLUTION OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF BENUE ENTERTAINERS WORLDWIDE

Subject: APPOINTMENT OF ACTING PRESIDENT GENERAL

Whereas,

The Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide, hereinafter referred to as "the Association" is governed by its Constitution and Bylaws, and Article 12.8 of the Constitution and Bylaws outlines the responsibilities and duties of the President General, including ensuring the smooth operation of the Association and the timely organization of elections for leadership positions.

2. Comr. Solomon Iornem (Solomon JP) was duly appointed as the Acting President General of the Association on 16th April, 2023 following the suspension of Comrade Shimael Akimbo.

3. Concerns have arisen regarding the leadership of Comr. Solomon Iornem (Solomon JP), specifically pertaining to his failure to fulfill key responsibilities outlined in the Association's Constitution and Bylaws.

4. Comr. Solomon Iornem (Solomon JP) has failed to maintain the active functioning of the Association, resulting in a period of inactivity and stagnation that threatens the vitality of the Association.

5. More specifically, Comr. Solomon Iornem (Solomon JP) has failed to organize and conduct elections for new leadership within the timeframe stipulated by the Constitution and Bylaws, leaving the Association without properly elected officials.

6. It has been further observed that there has been a lack of communication with members of the Association for a period exceeding two (2) years, effectively isolating the leadership from the general membership and hindering their ability to participate in the affairs of the Association.

7. The Advisory Committee and Board of Trustees believes that decisive action is necessary to ensure the continued viability and effectiveness of the Association.

8. The Advisory Committee and Board of Trustees has determined that it is in the best interest of the Association to appoint vibrant Acting President General to assume leadership responsibilities and address the aforementioned issues.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

Comr. Solomon Iornem (Solomon JP) is hereby relieved of his duties as Acting President General of the Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide, effective immediately.

2. Mr. Dennis Abakpa Itodo (Kpoku PLC) is hereby appointed as the Acting President General of the Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide, effective immediately.

3. Mr. Dennis Abakpa Itodo (Kpoku PLC), as Acting President General, shall have the full authority and responsibility to anage the day to day operations of the Association, communicate effectively and transparently with all members of the Association, reassess the financial status and assets of the Association, revitalize dormant or underperforming initiatives and programs, develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the prompt and transparent organization of free and fair elections for a President General and other leadership positions, in strict adherence to the Association's Constitution and Bylaws. These elections are to be held no later than six (6) months from the date of this resolution.

4. This resolution shall be disseminated to all members of the Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide through all our channels of communication.

We, the undersigned, being the duly authorized members of the Advisory Committee and Board of Trustees of the Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide, do hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted at a meeting held on 18th May, 2025 at our corporate headquarters and that a quorum was present and voting throughout.

Introduction:
Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide is a corporate body (Professional and Mutual Organization) with a common seal and perpetual succession, a legal entity with the mandate of developing and promoting, regulating and supervising the entertainment profession in Benue State and providing support to members worldwide.

The association also provides an international forum for sharing of knowledge and experience of entertainment, and commercial issues of interest and concern to her members worldwide to determine what standards of knowledge and skills are to be attained by persons seeking to become members of the entertainment profession and improve those standards from time to time as circumstances may permit.

Members are entertainers (Benue indigenes both home and in the diasporas and non Benue indigenes residing in Benue State who practices entertainment as a profession), either in private practice or industry, whose areas of expertise covers nearly every aspect of entertainment and or creativity, such as an Actor or Actress, Musician, Comedian or MC, Dancer, Producer, Director, Model, Photographer, DJ, Band, Hypnotist, Studio Technician, Script or Song Writer, Event Planner or Manager, Sportsmen or Sportswomen and other related disciplines.

The Association’s primary target is to help her members expand their career and receive access to most comprehensive support coverage and express connection routes in the entertainment industry.

Additional benefits include insurance, marketing, business consultation and development, discount on equipments, retail partnership, as well as free workshops and conferences, webinars and seminars on a variety of topics among others.

The Association also provides special support for local groups with a confirmable membership strength of twenty (20) members and contract opportunities for corporate bodies seeking to engage or engaged in entertainment practice, sale and or use of entertainment facilities and or provision of professional services in entertainment or other related disciplines under the Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide.

Membership:
Individual membership of the Association is open to all entertainers (Benue indigenes both home and in the diasporas and non Benue indigenes residing in Benue State who practices entertainment as a profession), either in private practice or industry, whose areas of expertise covers nearly every aspect of entertainment and or creativity, such as an Actor or Actress, Musician, Comedian or MC, Dancer, Producer, Director, Model, Photographer, Artist, DJ, Band, Hypnotist, Studio Technician, Script or Song Writer, Event Planner or Manager, Sportsmen or Sportswomen and other related disciplines.

Any person who has passion for entertainment growth and unreserved commitment to the development of entertainment industry and wishes to become a member of the Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide is allowed to join as “Observing Member” on the condition(s) so determined by the Executive Council.

Membership Categories:
Active Member: Benue Indigene both home and in the diaspora.

Fellow Member: Non Benue Indigene residing and practicing entertainment in Benue State.

Observing Member: Any person who has passion for entertainment growth and unreserved commitment to the development of entertainment industry in Benue State, Nigeria and beyond.

Conditions for Membership:
An intending member must complete membership application form issued by the Association upon payment of the current membership application fee which must be submitted to the appropriated authority for review and approval.

An applicant for active or fellow membership must be a person seeking to engage or engaged in the practice of entertainment or other related disciplines.

Individual Membership Application Fee: N3000 (Three Thousand Naira Only)

Individual Membership Registration: N5500 (Five Thousand Five Hundred Naira Only for Membership Identity Card, Copy of Constitution and Bylaws, Personalized Sticker, Project and Endorsement Certificate).

Partnership:
Partnership is open to any legally registered entertainment firm, group, guild, company, union or association and other related disciplines worldwide.

Partnership is also open to any local group that is not legally registered but formed in Benue State with at least a confirmable membership strength of twenty (20) members practicing entertainment or other related disciplines.

Conditions for Partnership:
An intending partner must complete partnership registration form issued by the Association upon payment of the current partnership registration fee which shall be submitted to the appropriated authority for review and approval.

Corporate Partnership Registration Fee: N50000 (Fifty Thousand Naira Only).

Local Group Registration Fee: N25000 (Twenty Five Thousand Naira Only).

SUSPENSION OF COMRADE SHIMAEL PETER AKIMBO, PRESIDENT GENERAL, ASSOCIATION OF BENUE ENTERTAINERS (ABE) WORLDWIDE AND HIS LED EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The above subject matter refers,

Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide, President General, Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo breached several sections of the Constitution and Bylaws, among which include Article 31.8, 31.19 and 31.20.

2. Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo publicly endorsed His Excellency, Samuel Ortom for Senate, a political seat under the umbrella of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) using Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide name and resources without approval from any organ of the Association.

3. Several warnings were issued to Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo while trying to stage the endorsement using Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide name and resources by the Chairman, Board of Trustees but all fell to deaf ears.

4. The Advisory Committee summoned the President General, Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo twice as stipulated in Article 16.6 but he deliberately refused to appear before it.

5. An emergency combined meeting of the Board of Trustees, Advisory Committee and General Congress held on 15th April, 2023 at City Bay Park, Makurdi resolved that;

a. The actions of Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo are against the ethics and standards of Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide as stipulated in the Constitution and Bylaws of the association.

b. In accordance with Article 7.3 and 23.4 of the Constitution and Bylaws, Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo is hereby suspended indefinitely as the President General of Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide.

c. Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo led Executive Council is also suspended for three (3) months pending the review decision of the Advisory Committee.

d. Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo lead Executive Council is hereby summoned to appear before the Advisory Committee on 29th April, 2023 at Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide, Corporate Headquarters, Makurdi by 10:00 AM GMT.

e. Comr. Solomon Iornem is hereby adopted the Acting President General of Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide with effect from 16th April, 2023 pending the review decision of the Advisory Committee.

f. Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo and his lead Executive Council should henceforth desist from parading themselves as the Executive Council of Association of Benue Entertainers (ABE) Worldwide and handover all documents, property(ies) and monies to the Acting President General within 7 days with effect from today 16th April, 2023.

As per our engagement with the Executive Council under the leadership of Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo and decision reached, the entire elected Executive Council inaugurated on 27th November, 2022 are inactive.

With the available evidence provided by the President General, Comr. Shimael Peter Akimbo, some pulled out while others remain dormant, therefore, having view with pressing concern, the delegates have voted for dissolution of the entire Executive Council and new leadership of the association will be appointed in acting capacity on 7th December, 2022 by 5:00 PM.
