*DEBORAH SAMUEL'S DEATH UNACCEPTABLE*
By
*Rev. Dr. Kurugh Antiev*
I am deeply saddened at the state of things in our country today. Taking us back a little in 2020, the so called terrorists beheaded a Christian leader, Lawan Andimi who was in their captivity, it was so painful the said terrorists went unpunished, as if that is not enough, It was with great shock that I received the news of the brutal murder of Deborah Samuel a 200L student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto by Islamic extremists for allegedly committing a blasphemy. This killing is barbaric and unacceptable. This act must be punished to serve as a deterrent for further act.
As a Christian leader (TEKAN Adviser, NKST Board of Trustees Secretary and Spiritual Patron, National Association of North Central Students), it is important I write to condemn this act as committed by the Islamic extremist. I therefore call on the government and security bodies to ensure those perpetrators who committed this murder face the wrath of the law. It must not be tolerated as it is infuriating.
All media houses must be ready to shun false media and keep to that which is true. How a media house will want to justify this act? This is the problem we have in our country. Those we look unto that should say the truth when needed turn the other way round but remember, Matt. 12:36 Jesus says, every careless word you say will stand against you on a judgement day.
I however, call on Christian bodies(CAN, TEKAN ACIPA etc) in every part of the country to remain calm and be fervent in their prayers as justice will be done appropriately.
To the family of Deborah Samuel Yakobu and Christian body, I pray the good Lord to console you all and grant you the fortitude to bear this very painful death.
My deepest condolences please!
