While practices varied among communities, young people were often encouraged to maintain chastity through cultural teachings, parental guidance, and community values.
Today, attitudes toward virginity and relationships differ among individuals and families. However, many Benue communities still promote values such as self-respect, personal responsibility, mutual respect in relationships, and making informed decisions about one's future.
