SPIRIT OF WORSHIP (S.O.W.)
Theme Scripture: John 4:23-24
The drums may be silent,
The microphones may fail,
The lights may go out,
But worship...
Worship remains.
For worship was never born from instruments,
It was born from hearts.
Not from the strength of our voices,
But from the surrender of our souls.
The Bible says:
*"The hour is coming, and now is,
when true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth."*
True worshippers.
Not perfect worshippers.
Not wealthy worshippers.
Not problem-free worshippers.
But true worshippers.
Those who have learned that worship is not a song we sing,
It is a life we live.
Here in this land,
Where many have known tears more than laughter,
Where some have buried dreams before they could blossom,
Where uncertainty has knocked on doors uninvitedβ
Still...
We worship.
Not because everything is good,
But because God is good.
Not because the road has been easy,
But because His grace has carried us.
We worship through the pain.
We worship through the waiting.
We worship through the questions we cannot answer.
Because worship is not the absence of struggle.
Worship is the declaration that God remains God,
Even in the midst of the struggle.
The woman at the well asked about a location.
Should we worship here?
Or should we worship there?
But Jesus shifted the conversation.
Because worship was never about the mountain.
It was never about the building.
It was never about the geography.
It was always about the heart.
For God is Spirit.
And those who worship Him
Must worship Him
In spirit
And in truth.
In spirit...
When nobody is watching.
In spirit...
When the choir has stopped singing.
In spirit...
When your knees are weak and your strength is gone.
And in truth...
Not pretending.
Not performing.
Not acting holy while the heart is far away.
But coming honestly before God.
Broken.
Needing Him.
Trusting Him.
Loving Him.
For the Father seeks such to worship Him.
Think about that.
The Creator of heaven and earth,
The One who hung the stars in the sky,
The One who commands oceans and nationsβ
Is seeking worshippers.
Not spectators.
Not critics.
Not observers.
Worshippers.
People whose hearts burn for Him.
People who say:
"Lord, if all I have left is Your presence,
Then I still have enough."
Tonight,
May our worship rise beyond melodies.
May it rise beyond tradition.
May it rise beyond routine.
May it become a fragrance before the throne of God.
May every burden become surrender.
May every fear become faith.
May every wounded heart find healing in His presence.
And when the songs are over,
When the program is finished,
When everyone returns home,
May the Spirit of Worship remain.
In our homes.
In our words.
In our service.
In our character.
In our daily walk with God.
For true worship does not end at the altar.
It continues in every step we take.
So let our hearts cry out:
Father,
Teach us to worship.
Not merely with our lips,
But with our lives.
Not merely in public,
But in secret.
Not merely in emotion,
But in truth.
For the hour is now.
And the Father is still seeking.
May He find true worshippers in us.
Amen.
