Sir John Hawley Glover, The second Governor of Lagos Colony (1864 -1872) died in 1885, and The People of Lagos came together to build Glover Memorial Hall in 1887 on a land donated by Madam Efunloye Tinubu.

The Hall has been recently renovated and upgraded by the Lagos State Government. THE PEOPLE CENTRE is partnering with the State, in ensuring that this rich cultural heritage/asset is maximally utilized towards achieving its full potential, as a space dedicated to arts, culture and society.
