It’s inspired by the funeral ceremony of a colleague’s father in Lagos. I was deeply moved by the leading procession of the musical orchestra, whose long double pipes trumpet echoed through the church premises as a final act of honour and respect.
The circular form & method of the canvas symbolizes the continuity of life and memory, while the vibrant yet fragmented textures reflect both the pain of loss and the beauty of legacy.
Through rhythm of this mixed media collage, the piece seeks to capture how music can transcend grief, offering healing and connection in moments of farewell.
