Rivers Police Query, Remove DPO After Suspected C¥ltists Renovate Police Outpost And Celebrate Completion Of Project

The Rivers State Police Command has queried and relieved the DPO in charge of Abuloma Division and the officer overseeing the outpost after suspected c¥ltists reportedly renovated the facility and visited to celebrate its completion.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, October 15, 2026, according to a video circulating on social media.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, and signed by ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the Command said it had ordered a full investigation to establish the circumstances and verify the allegations.

The police, led by Commissioner of Police Olugbenga A. Adepoju, condemned actions capable of undermining the integrity, discipline and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command warned that police facilities are public institutions meant to protect citizens and enforce the law, not platforms for cr+minal groups to seek recognition or influence.

The Commissioner directed investigators to identify those who financed the renovation, establish which officers authorised it, determine whether proper procedures were followed and ascertain whether any personnel breached professional standards.

While acknowledging that communities could contribute to improving police facilities, the Command stressed that assistance must not compromise police independence, security or professional standards.

It cited Section 26(1)(d) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, which provides for gifts and contributions to the Police General Fund, noting that donations must follow the applicable legal and administrative framework.

The Command emphasised that no donation would confer immunity from investigation or prosecution. Officers found culpable would face disciplinary measures, while legal action would follow where warranted.

The police urged the public to remain calm and provide credible information to help security agencies tackle c¥ltism and organised cr+me in Rivers State.

2027 Election: Tinubu Is Not Jonathan, He Cannot Preside Over An Election He Will Lose, Nigeria Sliding Into Dictatorship — Activist Dele Farotimi

Human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has warned that President Bola Tinubu cannot preside over an election he would lose, alleging that Nigeria is sliding into dictatorship under the guise of democracy.

Speaking ahead of the 2027 elections, Farotimi said Nigerians must organise to confront the political system rather than rely solely on elections to bring change.

“Tinubu is not Jonathan, he is incapable of presiding over an election he will lose, and he has neither a pathway to victory, nor the narrative to explain the outcome he desires. If it were not so tragic, it’d be comedic; feudalism has birthed a monster,” he said, contrasting Tinubu with former President Goodluck Jonathan, who conceded defeat in 2015.

Farotimi alleged that votes would not count and the judiciary would endorse the results unless citizens took action.

“Your votes do not count and the judiciary will endorse it, unless me and you decide to do something about it, because we are sleeping while a dictatorship is being installed in our country democratically,” he said.

He called for Nigeria to be restructured and reimagined, urging citizens to unite around a new national vision.

“The only thing that can be done to Nigeria is to restructure it, reimagine it, find a way to get together a critical mass of its victims, sell them a new version of this country, draw a line in the sand, and confront the system,” he said.

Farotimi said a revolution was necessary to transform Nigeria, although it could happen through the ballot box.

“It will take a revolution to save Nigeria,” he said, adding, “That revolution might come through the ballot. I’m not convinced, but insufficient numbers are persuaded to believe in the vision, not the person.”

He urged political movements to present voters with a clear vision rather than focus solely on personalities.

“If you don’t place the vision for a new Nigeria on the ballot, you cannot mobilise the people to stand behind their votes,” he said.

EFCC Arraigns Three Men for Allegedly Impers%nating Blogger TundeEdnut and Obtaining Over ₦18.2 Million

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has accused three men of allegedly imperson@ting Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut to obtain ₦18.2 million from unsuspecting members of the public.

The defendants, Raymond Charles Yafetus, Auwal Ibrahim and Babangida Yahaya Ibrahim, were arraigned before Justice S. O. Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged cybercr+me, conspiracy, imperson@tion and obtaining money by false pretence.

According to the charge, the alleged offences occurred between April and June 2026, when the defendants allegedly used the identity of Adekunle Tunde Olaoluwa, popularly known as Tunde Ednut, to open bank accounts and obtain ₦18,264,700.

Count two of the charge reads: “That you Raymond Charles Yafetus, Auwal Ibrahim and Babangida Yahaya Ibrahim (now at large) between April and June 2026 at Abuja… with the intent to defr@ud, did fr@udulently imperson@te one Adekunle Tunde Olaoluwa, popularly known as Tunde-Ednut and in that assumed character opened bank account in different banks in Nigeria and you obtained a total sum of N18,264,700… from unsuspecting members of the public…”

The charge states that the alleged offence contravened the Cybercr+me (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty. Prosecution counsel, Elizabeth Alabi, asked the court to remand them at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending trial.

Justice Ibrahim ordered their remand and adjourned the case until November 17, 2026.

The defendants have not been convicted and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

🚨BREAKING: Erling Haaland blames after Man City’s 4:2 humiliation against PSG 😳

🎙️Reporter: Erling, what went wrong for Manchester City tonight against PSG?

🗣️Haaland: Honestly, I think Enzo Fernández has to take some of the blame. He’s a good player, but I don’t think he’s the kind of midfielder Manchester City needs right now. We lost Rodri and Bernardo Silva last summer, and I expected the club to bring in players who could match their level, not someone who still has a lot to prove in that role.

🎙️Reporter: Are you saying Enzo isn’t good enough to play in Manchester City’s midfield?

🗣️Haaland: I’m saying there’s a difference between being a good player and being good enough for Manchester City. Rodri and Bernardo knew how to control games, create chances and dictate the tempo. With all due respect to Enzo, I don’t think he offers that same level of creativity and control. We cannot pretend we haven’t lost quality in midfield.

🎙️Reporter: Do you blame the club for bringing him in?

🗣️Haaland: I blame the decisions that have left us in this position. When you allow players like Rodri and Bernardo Silva to leave, you must replace them with players who can maintain the same standards. Tonight, PSG exposed our weaknesses, and we cannot keep making excuses.

🎙️Reporter: Do you believe Manchester City can compete for the biggest trophies with this midfield?

🗣️Haaland: Not if we continue playing like this. We need midfielders who can control games against Europe’s best teams. At Manchester City, the expectations are different, and nobody should be protected from criticism just because they cost a lot of money.

🎙️Reporter: Do you think Enzo Fernández is the right player for this project?

🗣️Haaland: That’s a question the club needs to answer. But if you’re asking me whether we’ve replaced Rodri and Bernardo Silva with players who bring the same quality, I think tonight’s performance speaks for itself.

🚨Lamine Yamal on his altercation with Mario Lemina:

🗣️Reporter: “Lamine, there was a moment between you and Mario Lemina during the match. Cameras caught you exchanging words. What exactly happened?”

🎙️Lamine Yamal:

“Honestly, it started with a tackle. He came in quite roughly, and after the challenge, he looked at me and said, ‘Welcome to hell.’

“I didn't say anything at first. Then, a little later, he came close to me again and said, ‘There is nothing for you today, Lamine. You're not going to do anything in this match.’

I just laughed. I looked at him and told him, ‘We'll see about that.’

“I'm young, but I've learned something about football: you don't need to answer every comment with an argument. Sometimes, the best response is to let your football do the talking.

“He was trying to make me uncomfortable, trying to make me feel like I wasn't going to have any influence on the game. But honestly, those things don't frighten me. I've played against difficult defenders before, and I know that one moment can change everything.

Then I went out there and provided two assists.

“After the second one, I saw him again. I looked him straight in the eye, smiled and said, ‘I told you so.’

“It wasn't about disrespecting him. He had talked to me, and I simply wanted him to understand that I wasn't going to let his words affect my performance.

You can tackle me, you can try to intimidate me, and you can tell me I'm going to have a bad game. But you cannot decide what happens when I have the ball at my feet.

“I respect every opponent. That's important. But respect doesn't mean being afraid of anybody. I go onto the pitch to enjoy myself, create chances and help Barcelona win.

“And if someone wants to turn the match into a personal battle, that's fine. I'll stay focused on the football.

He welcomed me to hell. I gave him two assists to remember me by.”
