VISIBILITY IN THE WORKPLACE

The only more important question after "Are you visible in the workplace?" is " How are you visible?"

Now, I'm not referring to being the best dressed for 3 years in a row. That's not bad in itself unless that's the only visibility you have.

Do you bring value? Can the business count on you to bring something completely new or propose a different way to package something old? Are you a go getter?

Your visibility gets you to be top of mind while your results keep you there.

Guess who the business will think of first when they need someone to lead that new team, project or OpCo?

Your guess is as good as mine 😉

Whose standards are you measuring yourself with?

While I'm a fan of benchmarking and self assessment as a pathway to growth and improvement, it is imperative that it is the right standards.

A deuce in tennis does not have the same value in poker for instance. If you know, you know 😉

I scooped a big win over the weekend and it would be so much easier for me to focus on that but looking at this photo, I thought to myself that this is probably what others do as well - celebrate the big wins and ignore the others.

I have lost a dress size and still working at it but I'm celebrating my achievement regardless.🥳🥳🥳

21 years gone by, just like that!

This is how I remember you; simple, fashionable, peaceful and almost childlike. 🥰

I still wrestle with the burden of the fact that you insisted on Daddy calling me hours before you died to tell me you were doing great.

You thought of me even then, wanting to make sure I was okay just before you left. It haunts me that I wasn't by your side when you died. It hurts that while I was travelling, schooling, living and exploring as a young adult I thought we had time. I thought there would be more nights of eating bread and Anchor butter with a chilled bottle of Coke. I thought there would be more birthdays to celebrate with you. I thought there would be more nights where you would come into our room to gist. I thought there would be weekends I would send your grandchildren to you. I thought I would take you on Spa dates. I thought we had time. I thought I had time.

Rest in peace Mrs O! I will have to keep my gist until we meet again. Daddy's gist is no longer current 😛
