Authorities in southwest China have arrested six Christians linked to a house church in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, on charges including “fraud” and “organizing minors to engage in activities undermining public order.”

According to reports confirmed by ChinaAid, the accusations are largely tied to regular church activities, including Sunday school classes for children.

The arrested church leaders include five men and one woman affiliated with the local house church. Dr. described the case as a major escalation in China’s crackdown on religious freedom, saying authorities are criminalizing peaceful Christian worship and teaching.

Legal experts have also raised concerns over possible due process violations, while religious freedom advocates warn that China’s revised laws on “illegal religious activities” are increasingly being used against pastors and house churches across the country.

The six Christians remain in detention as their families and church community continue calling for justice and international attention.

Michael Oyedokun, a Christian mathematics teacher in Nigeria, was reportedly killed after being abducted during coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Local sources said armed men stormed three schools near Ogbomoso on May 15, kidnapping seven teachers and several pupils before fleeing into nearby forests on motorcycles.

Days later, a video circulated online allegedly showing Oyedokun being beheaded, sparking protests in Ogbomoso as residents, teachers, and youths demanded stronger security for schools and rural communities.

Residents described Oyedokun as a dedicated teacher and committed Christian. Church leaders and civil society groups called for the rescue of the remaining abducted victims and the arrest of those responsible.

The attack has renewed concerns over rising kidnappings and insecurity affecting schools in parts of Southwest Nigeria. Prayer gatherings were also held across Oyo State for the safe return of the remaining hostages.

Three Baptist pastors were killed in a deadly ambush in India’s northeastern state of Manipur on Wednesday, May 13, while returning from an interchurch peace conference aimed at fostering unity among tribal Christian communities affected by the region’s ongoing conflict. At least five other people sustained injuries in the attack.

The incident drew swift condemnation from major Christian organizations across India, regional authorities, and community groups throughout the Northeast. However, uncertainty and conflicting claims continue to surround the identity of those responsible for the violence.

The victims were senior ministers of the Thadou Baptist Association India (TBAI), a Baptist body closely associated with the Thadou-Kuki community in Manipur. The pastors had participated in the United Baptist Convention Assembly held in Churachandpur, also known as Lamka, located in the state’s southern hill district. While traveling back to Kangpokpi, approximately 60 miles away, their convoy was attacked by unidentified gunmen near the villages of Kotzim and Kotlen along the Imphal-Tamenglong highway around 10:25 a.m.

The killings have further shaken ongoing reconciliation efforts between the Kuki-Zo and Naga communities,two predominantly Christian tribal groups whose relationship has become increasingly strained amid Manipur’s wider ethnic unrest. Among those killed was Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, widely recognized for his commitment to promoting peace and dialogue between the communities.
