Take a moment to pause what you're doing right now: who’s Africa’s biggest act? His name is spelt DAVIDO! It’s hard to think- or see another young musician who has put in more work, or achieved more in recent times. His knack for banging out unforgettable tunes sets him apart from the hordes of others. Bubbles Magazine is happy to have him grace the cover of our new edition. His ability to command the attention of listening audiences from your neighbourhood to New York, from Lagos to Las Vegas and from Abuja to Abu Dhabi is near-legend. What song has Davido dropped that hasn’t made the charts? With his impish inclination for the limelight through his off-stage antics and controversies, there simply isn’t any bigger showman than Davido right now!
But it’s hard to see him as just for the right now. His domination of 2014 has been long time coming- if you can call three years a long time. He has shown himself to be putting in the necessary hours required to be a household name. He always delivers tunes that stay in your head, in spite of the fact that critics sometimes label as cheesy. That in itself is a good thing- as opposed to been chalked off as a ‘Daddy’s Boy’. Brush your shoulders off David…
We’re releasing two covers to show two sides of the man. One is a shot of him while commanding the stage at a London concert. The photograph was taken by UK based photographer Michael Tubes. The other is a shot of Davido at the video shoot for his and D’Prince’s track Gentleman. That was taken by Tobbie of TCD Photography.
In this edition as well, we pay homage to the urban culture of our times with our fashion spread, tech pages and as usual, the FreshOut department spotlights a number of new artistes that are putting in work.
Bubbles Magazine is more than just an entertainment journal; it’s a complete documentation of Nigerian entertainment and its associated lifestyle.
Bubbles is available at newsstands nationwide, Ozone Cinemas, Patabah Bookshops, The Hub Lekki, Glendora Bookstores.

Dancehall star Oritsefemi cover the new issue of Bubbles Magazine
After veering off into movies in the last edition that featured filmstar OC Ukeje, Bubbles Magazine returns to its roots this month with dancehall/ragga artiste Oritsefemi. The Ajegunle born crooner has had a smashing return to the streets after a hiatus. Coming out with his Mercies of the Lord debut in 2006, he gave voice to the emerging dancehall genre that was spreading like wild fire. His grimy roots was something he never hid and was evident in his delivery and his ‘message’. A few other hits later he all but vanished from the airwave, only for him to make a powerful return with Double Wahala this year. From being a ghetto boy, Oritsefemi became a crowd favourite almost overnight. He speaks exclusively to Bubbles Magazine about his hustle, his music and his plans for the future now that he’s a megastar.
Also in this issue, Bubbles lends its voice to the campaign that has united the world in grief and anger. As we citizens cannot all go up in arms and chase after the kidnappers, we only can join the shout that rose from Nigerian social media users till the world took notice and paid attention. We collaborate with ace photographer Shola Animashaun to document our collective call for right to be done for these little girls that are being held by insurgents. He photographs dozens of Nigerian celebrities and regular folks holding up the now ubiquitous sign, . In his words, ‘It is wrong not to do anything just because you can do a little’. It is our hope and fervent prayer that the girls would be rescued speedily.
With features on Daddy Showkey, 2Chainz and several other artistes as well as fashion articles, tech and urban entertainment, the new edition of Bubbles promises to be a master piece as usual.
Bubbles Magazine is out this week and can be found at Glendora Bookshops, Patabah Bookstores, Ozone Cinemas and at newsstands nationwide.

Now we're not one to toot our own horn but if we don't who will? You might remember our 2face cover from Issue 28 last year... Apparently we started something. Here's a still from his latest video Spiritual Healing. Looks curiously like our animated cover... We're always happy to help start a trend. Nice one 2baba...One love!!!
