ADC ANNOUNCES EXPULSION OF ERRING MEMBERS FOLLOWING NATIONAL CONVENTION

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the expulsion of several members following resolutions reached at its National Convention held on April 14, 2026, in Abuja. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the decision was taken after the adoption of a disciplinary motion against members found to have acted contrary to its constitution and values. The affected individuals have ceased to be members of the party with immediate effect and are now free to explore other political platforms, while the ADC affirmed that any party willing to receive them is at liberty to do so. The party reiterated its commitment to discipline, internal democracy, and the rule of law.

The full statement read:

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to inform the public that, pursuant to resolutions reached at its National Convention held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Rainbow Event Centre, Garki, Abuja, the Party has approved the expulsion of certain individuals for acts deemed inconsistent with its constitution, values, and disciplinary framework.

The affected individuals are Hon. Leke Abejide, Nafiu Bala Gombe, Mr. Kingsley Temitope Ogga, Mr. Don Norman Obinna, Mr. Kennedy Odion, Mr. Clement Ehigiator, Mrs. Stella Chukwuma, Patrick Ambut, J***y Tovie Derek, Duke Dick, and Elias Adikwu.

This decision followed the consideration and adoption of a motion on the discipline of erring members, duly presented and ratified by delegates at the Convention under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator David Mark, GCON, National Chairman of the Party.

With this action, the affected individuals cease to be members of the African Democratic Congress with immediate effect. Consequently, they are now at liberty to explore other political platforms, and any political party that may wish to receive them is free to do so.

The Party reiterates its unwavering commitment to discipline, internal democracy, and the rule of law. The ADC will continue to uphold the highest standards of accountability as it consolidates its position as a credible and viable alternative for Nigerians.

Signed,

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi
National Publicity Secretary

Insolify Deploys Low Latency Edge AI to Solve Payment Failures in High-Growth African Markets

• The quiet infrastructure firm, founded by systems architects, now processes millions of transactions daily for over 300 financial institutions across EMEA launches Ai powered offline payments.

As fintech valuations in Africa face pressure from currency volatility and rising infrastructure costs, one bootstrapped infrastructure company is carving out a defensible niche by solving a problem every Nigerian commuter and Kenyan trader knows intimately: transaction timeouts in dead zones.

Insolify, a software firm with operational hubs in Abuja, Nairobi, and Dubai, has announced the broad deployment of a new low-latency AI payment layer built specifically for markets with intermittent connectivity. While the company initially described the system as "offline-first," engineers on the project have clarified that the innovation lies in predictive edge computing allowing financial apps to finalize user intent and manage risk locally during network brownouts, rather than fully disconnecting from the grid.

For a region where a dropped signal can mean a missed sale or a stalled supply chain, the distinction is critical.

The Edge Over Timeouts

Traditional payment gateways rely on a roundtrip to a central server. In dense urban areas like Lagos Island or during peak hours on Safaricom’s network, latency spikes cause a cascade of failed transactions.

Insolify’s architecture addresses this by shifting lightweight AI decisioning to distributed nodes and device-level SDKs. The system pre-positions risk data and balance snapshots. When connectivity falters to 3G or fluctuates, the local environment can confidently render a transaction "successful" to the user while queuing the final settlement for when the packet of data sneaks through.

"Think of it less as 'offline cash' and more as 'graceful degradation of the network,'" said Femi Alex, a senior software engineer at Insolify. "We’re not trying to rewrite the laws of distributed computing. We’re making sure the user in a moving danfo bus doesn't have to press 'pay' three times."

The system is already integrated into Insolify’s flagship product, FinCore, a cloud-native core banking engine that the company reports is now in use by over 300 banks, microfinance institutions, and fintech lenders across Africa and the Middle East.

The Quiet Influence

Behind this quiet expansion is a founder who has studiously avoided the founder-celebrity track. Billah Muayyat, who serves as Insolify’s chief architect, is a self-taught engineer who began programming at age nine and has since built a reputation among peers as a deeply technical systems thinker fluent in the low-level languages (C++, Go, Lisp) required to optimize financial middleware.

While many of his contemporaries in the African fintech scene have become prolific public speakers, fundraisers and social media presences, Billah has turned down virtually all interview requests, including for this story. His focus, according to colleagues, remains on the logic gates rather than the limelight.

However, his influence is measurable. Beyond Insolify, Billah is known to advise and angel-invest in a small cohort of engineering-heavy startups across Africa and Southeast Asia, with a specific focus on digital inclusion and localized AI language models including Insolify’s own Safi platform, which processes financial instructions in Pidgin, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, and Swahili among others.

Valuation and Net Worth Context

Insolify remains privately held and has not publicly disclosed a funding round to date, operating instead on a revenue-efficient model typical of enterprise SaaS providers. According to analysis of comparable transactions in the core banking and fintech infrastructure space (benchmarked against recent deals for firms like Mambu, Oradian, Safaricom(MPesa) and Intuit), and based on Insolify’s verified transaction volumes, industry analysts estimate the company's implied valuation to be in the range of $1.5 billion USD.

Public incorporation documents and secondary market filings reviewed by this publication indicate Mr. Billah retains a direct ownership stake of approximately 10% in the entity, alongside equity interests in other regional technology ventures. Based on the current estimated valuation, Muayyat's paper net worth is projected at approximately $200 million.

Crucially, this figure represents illiquid, private equity tied directly to the operational performance of the underlying financial infrastructure. It is a reflection of enterprise value creation, not venture capital hype.

Industry Outlook

As central banks across Africa particularly the CBN in Nigeria and the CBK in Kenya push for greater resilience in digital payment rails, the demand for localized, latency-tolerant architecture is expected to surge.

Insolify’s approach positions it as a critical behind-the-scenes layer for any bank or fintech hoping to expand beyond the fiber-optic loops of city centers and into the peri-urban and rural economies where the majority of the continent's commerce actually occurs.

While Billah Muayyat remains out of sight, the systems he builds are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15, 2025.

In its ruling, the court barred Alhaji Aminu Turaki and other individuals who emerged from the convention from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP.

The court further ruled that the Caretaker Committee led by Ambassador Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, pending the conduct of a properly convened and valid National Convention in line with the party’s constitution and relevant laws.

This judgment clearly vindicates Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who had consistently warned that the party failed to follow due process before proceeding with the Ibadan convention. The court’s decision confirms that his position was based on respect for the rule of law and the PDP’s constitutional provisions.

The court barred Turaki and others from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP.

The court also ruled that Caretaker Committee led by Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu is the only recognised NWC of the PDP pending the conduct of a valid National Convention

PDP: The Ibadan convention is an illegality that has no legal bearing, Turaki must stop parading himself as PDP chairman now!" - Andrew Enantomhen

PDP chieftain and good governance advocate, Andrew Enantomhen on Wednesday reiterated his call for sanity in the Peoples Democratic Congress (PDP).

"You can't continue to dwell on illegality and expect the law to favour you. The law is not emotional, the Constitution is guided by principles.

"It is high time Turaki stop parading himself as PDP chairman, the damage he has done to PDP is enough!

"This is the only party we have to call our own.

"We are losing more Governors, more senators, more House of Reps Members at a record rate never imagined. Enough is enough!" Andrew Enantomhen said.

He criticised "the illegality being perpetrated by Turaki and friends on PDP".

Andrew Enantomhen called on well-meaning Nigerians to join hands with patriots to take back PDP from "Turaki and friends".

He commended Senator Samuel Anyanwu for his efforts toward bringing sanity to PDP.

"Posterity will favour you and every other patriot trying to keep the PDP on the path of legality," Andrew Enantomhen said to Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

Talking about the PDP convention in Ibadan, Andrew Enantomhen restated his stand that the Ibadan convention is an illegality that will not stand in court. He refered to it as "lacking legal bearing when it is tested in any law court of competent jurisdiction".

From Plan to Reality: Why Extending Social Protection to Nigeria’s Informal Workers Is Still So Hard

By Segun Tekun

A former International Labour Organization (ILO) Social Protection expert, Segun Tekun, has warned that Nigeria’s plan to extend social protection to more than 60 million informal sector workers may fail unless the country urgently confronts the deep structural weaknesses embedded in its social protection system.

In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, 2025; Tekun said that while Nigeria has progressive social protection laws, they remain largely ineffective for the informal economy, where over 80 percent of Nigerians work.

“Nigeria’s social protection system was built for offices and factories,” he said. “But Nigeria’s economy runs in markets, on farms, in motor parks, along coastal waters and across informal trade corridors,” he further said.

A National Problem Cutting Across All Regions

According to Tekun, the failure to extend social protection is visible across every region of the country.

In the South-West, market women in Ibadan and Abeokuta still pay out-of-pocket for healthcare despite the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act making health insurance mandatory. In Aba, dispatch riders and informal transport workers injured on the road rarely receive compensation under the Employees’ Compensation Act.

In the South-East, traders in Onitsha and Aba, despite running thriving commercial hubs, remain excluded from pensions and injury insurance. Across the North-West and North-East, smallholder farmers, herders and agro-pastoralists face droughts, insecurity and health shocks with almost no formal social protection support.

In the North-Central, artisanal miners and rural farmers experience frequent work-related injuries but lack access to compensation schemes. Along the South-South coast, fisherfolk lose livelihoods to flooding and oil pollution but have no structured insurance, health or income protection.

Health Insurance: Universal in Law, Selective in Practice

Tekun pointed to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act 2022, which legally mandates health insurance coverage for all Nigerians, including informal workers, farmers and the self-employed. “Three years after the Act, universal coverage exists more in law than in real life,” he said.

He noted that State health insurance schemes in Lagos, Anambra and Kano still cater largely to civil servants and formal private-sector employees, while rural farmers and traders remain largely uncovered. “In rural communities in Jigawa or Benue, farmers sell produce to pay medical bills. In riverine areas of Bayelsa, fisherfolk still rely on traditional care or debt,” he explained.

According to him, fixed premiums, weak outreach and poor service quality continue to discourage informal workers from enrolling.

Workplace Injury: Invisible Risks in the Informal Economy

Tekun criticised the weak application of the Employees’ Compensation Act (2010), saying it rarely reaches workers outside registered companies. “A bricklayer injured on a site in Ilorin or a farmer injured by equipment in Kebbi bears the cost alone,” he said. He added that; small-scale farmers frequently experience injuries from farm tools, agrochemicals and machinery, yet remain completely excluded from compensation mechanisms.

“The law protects employers who register, not workers who suffer injuries,” Tekun stated.

Pensions: The Ageing Crisis Waiting to Happen

Tekun further expressed concern over the implementation of the Pension Reform Act 2014, which established the Micro-Pension Plan for informal workers. “In practice, micro-pensions have barely reached traders, farmers or artisans,” he noted. “Across Katsina, Osun, Enugu and Cross River, informal workers see old age coming with fear, not security.”

He warned that without pension inclusion, Nigeria faces a future surge in elderly poverty, especially in rural and agrarian communities where family support systems are already under strain.

A System Built for a Formal Economy That Barely Exists

Tekun argued that the common thread across Nigeria’s health insurance, compensation and pension laws is a heavy reliance on formal employment structures, despite informal workers accounting for the majority of the labour force.

“Our laws mention informal workers, but the machinery still runs on deductions, registrations and enforcement mechanisms designed for offices and factories,” he said.

He warned that the Federal Government’s pledge to reach 60 million informal workers will fail unless social protection delivery is radically simplified and adequately financed.

What Must Change Now

Tekun called on Government to move beyond announcements and take practical steps, including:
• Using associations as entry points, by enrolling workers through market unions, transport groups, cooperatives and digital platforms.

• Subsidizing health insurance and pensions for the poorest informal workers instead of relying solely on contributions.

• Creating a single access point for health, injury compensation and pensions to reduce complexity.

• Amending regulations to clearly accommodate self-employed workers under existing laws.

• Publishing transparent coverage data, showing how many informal workers are actually benefiting.

Segun Tekun is a social protection expert with over a decade of experience supporting social protection reforms across Africa. He has worked on policy and programme design in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia and Somalia, and previously served with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and UNICEF.

League of PDP Backbone calls on NJC to strip Tanimu Turaki of his SAN title
.....calls on Nigerians to rescue the PDP from Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Tanimu Turaki and his friends

League of PDP Backbone
has on Wednesday called on the National Judicial Council (NJC), to strip Tanimu Turaki of his title as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

"Nigerians call for National Judicial Council to withdraw the certificate of Senior Advocate of Nigeria of Tanimu Turaki, for breaching the constitutional order.

"Tanimu Turaki being a SAN have consistently breached a court order on two different occasions where the High Court has instructed that the convention should not go on.

"Tanimu Turaki kept on parading himself as an illegal chairman and holding onto the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on an illegal portfolio.

"So we call on every Nigerian to rally round the NJC, and call for the withdrawal of the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Tanimu Turaki. He does not deserve that title. He should be stripped off of it," PDP Backbone said.

"Turaki is a randy chairman. If we follow the trail of things that have been taking place since the inception of his SAN.

"We don't know how he got the SAN title, because he is randy. That is the fact about it. The Judiciary system should now begin to look at the people they give this honour to, because we cannot begin to run with this illegality.

"Tanimu Turaki is bringing a dent to the Judiciary system.

"That is why we have this double square peg in a round hole. We can't go on like this. We need to see how we can trim up and clean up the system for our own children and for ourselves. The system is a mess. This person is not qualified for this turf at all. He cannot be a chairman," the concerned PDP group further said.

"PDP is a party of rule of law. That is what PDP stands for and that is what PDP has been going for. We cannot now begin to run in illegality and think that we are going to get it right. It is not going to stand and it will not work.

"We concerned PDP stakeholders and faithful members call on every party faithful to rally round this party by ensuring the integrity of this party is being upheld and sustained.

"The likes of Tanimu Turaki that have tainted their images, that have bad records and bad reputation, cannot be seen parading himself as a factional chairman of this party.

"He is an illegal chairman and he has bad records, and reputation, and still parading himself with the name of this party.

"This is uncalled for. Tanimu Turaki must stop acting and stop using the name of PDP to parade himself. His name and his image has been dented. He should go and rectify his image first before coming to the public space to say he is a member of PDP, let alone to be the chairman of Leagues of PDP," the PDP group concluded.

Breaking: PDP expels Bala Mohammed, Dauda Lawal, Makinde, others

Main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has on Wednesday, informed members of the public about its decision to expel some members.

In a disclaimer notice by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Bauchi State Governor and Oyo State Governor have been expelled from the party.

"DISCLAIMER!

"The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party noted with concern the embarrassing misrepresentation of;
1. Bala Mohammed
2. Dauda Lawal
3. Seyi Makinde
4. Emmanuel Udom
5. Adolphus Wabara
6. Taofeek Arapaja
7. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki

14. Sumaita Adamu Bunza
15. Koshoedo Setonji|
16. Daniel Woyengikuro
17. Umar Iliya Damagun
18. Umar Sani

"falsely parading themselves as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

"The general public and PDP faithful should be aware that in accordance with the PDP constitution, 2017 as Amended, these individuals were duly expelled by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party held on November 18, 2025 for various offences bordering on anti party activities and gross misconduct," the disclaimer read.

"The public and PDP faithfuls are therefore advised not to yield any support or accord recognition to any of these individuals falsely parading themselves as officers and members of the PDP. Anybody who does that, does so at his/her own peril.

"Again, the public should be aware that the peoples Democratic Party has not held her National Convention yet. The purported convention held in Ibadan was a charade and mere social gathering, which is not recognized by law, for its failure to adhere to validly delivered court judgements.

"Anybody parading himself as a newly elected national officer of the party is an imposter and a meddlesome interloper," the notice further said.

IMPENDING LEADERSHIP VACUUM AND OVERSTAYING COMMISSIONERS:
A LOOMING THREAT TO POWER SECTOR REFORMS AND INVESTOR CONFIDENCE

Nigeria’s electricity sector is edging toward an avoidable leadership crisis. In less than two weeks, the tenure of both the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) will expire. The Electricity Act 2023 does not provide for an Acting Chairman when both offices are vacant, raising the possibility that the Commission could soon be left without any lawful leadership.

For a sector already battling liquidity issues, metering deficits, and persistent operational lapses, a leadership void at the regulatory level could halt key decisions, slow down ongoing reforms, and further weaken already shaky investor confidence.

Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat, the President’s nominee for NERC Chairman, has completed the required screening and has only the final step of confirmation left. Industry watchers warn that delaying his confirmation or failing to announce a replacement quickly may plunge the Commission into uncertainty at a critical moment.

His recent appearance on TVC changed many minds within the industry. He spoke confidently about market operations, regulatory structures, digital transformation, and reforms needed to strengthen transparency and consumer protection. Many who initially doubted his competence now consider him adequately prepared and forward-thinking.

Delays driven by political calculations will only deepen the impression that federal appointments have become inconsistent. The electricity sector cannot afford instability at a time when reforms should be accelerating.

Concerns are also growing about the influence of political actors who are believed to pressure the Presidency into postponing or reversing appointments. This perception, whether accurate or not, feeds the narrative that the Tinubu administration is hesitant or inconsistent in handling sensitive postings. Clear and decisive action is needed to correct that impression.

Overstaying Commissioners in Violation of the Electricity Act

Another serious issue is the continued stay of several NERC commissioners whose tenures have already expired, some by almost a year. This clearly violates the Electricity Act 2023, which specifies the duration of appointments: 5 years for the Chairman and 4 years for Commissioners.

Despite this, the following officials remain in office beyond their lawful terms:

Commissioners Who Have Exceeded Their Tenure:
1. Musiliu Oseni, Market Competition and Rates – Appointed 7 February 2017 – End of Tenure 7 February 2025 – Overstayed 9 months
2. Aisha Mahmud, Consumer Affairs – Appointed 1 December 2020 – End of Tenure 1 December 2024 – Overstayed 11 months
3. Shatti Nathan Rogers, Finance and Management Services – Appointed 7 February 2017 – End of Tenure 7 February 2025 – Overstayed 9 months
4. Dafe Akpeneye, Legal, Licensing and Compliance – Appointed 7 February 2017 – End of Tenure 7 February 2025 – Overstayed 9 months

Legal analysts, civil society organisations, and energy stakeholders have repeatedly warned that allowing commissioners to stay beyond their legal tenure is improper and unlawful. Civil society groups are reportedly preparing to challenge the issue in court, while investors are becoming increasingly uneasy about a regulator that does not follow its own laws.

The Path Forward

To stabilise the sector and prevent an avoidable breakdown, President Tinubu should act urgently by:
1. Confirming Engr. Abdullahi Ramat without further delay or nominating a replacement immediately.

Prophet Elijah Bamidele Ilukholor criticises the resistance of Igbos to the call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu
....says "this is why an Igbo man may not be President any time soon"

General Overseer of Christ House of Prayer and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Elijah Bamidele Ilukholor, on Friday, expressed shock at the sharp criticism his call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu has suffered in the hands of the Igbos.

In a barrage of messages from some social media users that are of Igbo extraction, some persons hurled insults at the popular clergy for calling for the pardon and release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The Prophet, while reacting to newsmen, on the development, said the opposition to the pardon and release of Nnamdi Kanu by the Igbos and the insults they have been hurling at him for making such patriotic call is the exact reason it will be difficult for an Igbo person to be President of Nigeria.

He emphasized further that his call for the pardon and release of Nnamdi Kanu is a patriotic call from a place of humanity in him and that he is shocked that the Igbos will not keep their egos aside and join in the call for the pardon and release of Nnamdi Kanu.

He prayed Almighty God to touch the heart of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pardon and release Nnamdi Kanu with the belief that the detention of Nnamdi Kanu is long overdue and that a human approach, not detention will be a way forward now.

"The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu is becoming an endless exercise now. If the court has asked that he should be freed, he should be freed. Let it not be like as if the man is being detained out of malice by the Government. The law should take its course but the law should be fast about it. His continued detention is beginning to look like an indefinite exercise. Yet again, I call on His Excellency Peter Obi and all the leaders from South East to join in the call to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to please pardon and release Nnamdi Kanu," Prophet Elijah Bamidele Ilukholor further said.

Group Decries Continuous Protest By Staff Of NMDC Jos

A group under the aegis of Plateau Network for Social Justice and Reform (PNSJR) has strongly condemned the continuous protests by a cross-section of workers at the National Metallurgical Development Centre (NMDC) Jos, which has disrupted activities of the centre in last two weeks.

LEADERSHIP reports that the workers had embarked on protests demanding for the immediate removal of the Director-General of the Centre, alleging maladministration.

PNSJR in a statement signed by its president, Timothy Dallak, and secretary, Hon. Daniel Abubakar, respectively, expressed disappointment over a series of protests by workers despite the efforts by the management team led by the director general, Professor Linus Asuquo to reposition the centre.

The group also emphasised that it was obvious and crystal clear that the Centre was in a comatose state and lying prostrate prior to the appointment of Professor Asuquo as Director-General, and that the call for his removal was surprising given the agency’s recent turn.

According to the group, the call for the removal of the Director-General was too flimsy, especially as the implementation of their demands was not within the chief executive’s authority and the workers should have known that only the ministry has the answer to their demands.

“Our findings reveal that the protest is being sponsored by a few insiders who perceived Asuquo, leadership, particularly, the renewal of his tenure, as a threat to their atrocities and as well as a means to force his removal in order for one of them, who is about to retire, to take over the centre’s leadership.

“Most of the issues raised can be cross-checked with the ministry. So, why the protest? Concerning financial irregularities, the two anti-graft agencies as we learnt had reviewed the petitions against the Director-General and exonerated him.

“The overseeing ministry cannot afford to remain silent on this, the workers must be called to order. It was so embarrassing that the Permanent Secretary, during his official visit to the Centre, was almost prevented from gaining entrance into the centre all his efforts to calm down the few workers protesting were futile .

“Given Plateau State’s, unpredicted nature, our main concern right now is that peace be allowed to rule. So that bad elements do not exploit the protest to sow mayhem”

The group urged the minister of Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu, and the permanent secretary of the ministry to as a matter of urgency call the individuals behind the protest to order and address the concerns, while those found wanting should face consequences.

PNSJR on the other hand, praised the director-general’s huge strides in the face of diminishing funding over the last four years, claiming that NMDC was one of the abandoned agencies prior to his appointment.
