CHECK IF YOUR NAME IS ON THIS LIST!!
By this time last year, my life was filled with uncertainties as I, with three other journalists were incarcerated at Ikoyi Prison orchestrated by the Group CEO of GTCO for a whopping 6months but I remember it was someone that added my name to the list of those to be arrested and was even ready to come testify in court against me till God intervened.
RUMORS started flying that Precious Eze is a blackmailer, some said it to my hearing that that was what people, especially those of them who didn’t know who I am, were carrying around about my person but I give glory to God that I survived that incident and alive to see another Christmas out of detention.
This is to say THANK YOU to all those who stood by me through thick and tin, encouraging and helping me bounce back in good mental health status.
Many people may not understand what it meant to be in prison for 6months solely depending on the benevolence of others to eat especially when you cannot eat the poison provided by the prison authorities and coming out to an expired house rent and with no money to pay, but without being told, these two women, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, former MD/CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC and Dr. Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili came through without being asked.
Mrs. Stella Din-Jacob, former Executive Director, News of the NTA, Mr. Ohi Odiai of Arise News was the only man who traveled all the way to America for Trump’s inauguration and bought me clothes even while in detention.
My friend at Fidelity Bank and group head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Mrs. Chioma Atiyota, Mummy Tosin Ajayi, Mrs. Helen Odeleye, Mummy Ngozi Nwosu, Mrs. Patricia Amukamara, Justin Akadonye of News Central, my former boss, Mr. Akin Adeoya, my favorite uncle, Dr. Chiji Ezeji, my favorite cousin and his beautiful wife, Emeka & Ijeoma Anyanwu, Agu Jacob Nnamdi of STV, Ngozi Alaegbu of Arise News, SDNON Executive Members, Daaaada Adaku Ibe-Awurumibe of MITV, my Aunt (in Odumeje’s voice) Nkeiru, my friend, Tochi Williams, Mr. Rex Biose of Bowine International School, Mrs. Kambili Osadolor-Ehima of BossFM Abuja, formerly with AIT, Auntie Lilian Amah-Aluko, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, PMAN President, Pretty Okafor, my little ones, Uchenna, Emeka, Chinedu, Tosin Olatunde and my classmates in secondary school, THANK YOU, hoping I didn’t forget anyone?
If I did, kindly forgive my innocence.
This will not end without me acknowledging the role my ever brilliant and inspiring Lawyer, Barrister Kunle Afolabi played in getting myself and the other three out of the dungeon. It was Barrister Kunle Afolabi that God used to fight our unseen battles and I, Precious Eze am grateful that God, through Iyabo Aino gave me Barrister Kunle Afolabi.
Like I say lately, ‘’In all you acquire in life, make sure you get a good legal representative and a lawyer who is as SELFLESS as my own Barrister Kunle Afolabi, then, the selfless Barrister Olivia Audu, ever brilliant and flamboyantly beautiful who was in court throughout even when she was heavily pregnant with me son.
In closing this appreciation, I would love to state unequivocally that not once in my career in the years of my practice of journalism have I asked for money before publishing or pulling down a story for anyone, BUT if you want your rebuttal or rejoinder published, you pay for that service.
In all, WE, the four journalists arrested and incarcerated by GTCO were discharged, acquitted with the case struck out.
This post is to say thank you to God first and foremost and to send my undying appreciation to those who were immensely contributory to my recovery both mentally and financially.
And to those who made promises to do one or two to alleviate me, I am holding your promises to me to heart and I believe you’ll all redeem yourself in my heart.
Thank Jesus for your saving grace made available to me in my troubling and turbulent time of my life.
