Ever since I laid eyes on the original photo of Tunde with kids from years back on Twitter, I've had it in mind to recreate. I did some modification by changing the ground to a chessboard floor, put a tower in the background having a chess pawn and the top, and also making the kids in the frontline look more excited.

The title I gave the piece is simply what the pictorial composition typifies. It's a VICTORY PARADE.

Tunde hasn't just been winning the hearts of kids and adolescents through the Chess In Slums initiative; he's been imparting knowledge and changing lives for good. His live journey has been about sowing kindness, and he's been reaping the dividends with greater capacity to do more.

Again, this piece is titled VICTORY PARADE
Medium: BIC Ballpoint pen and Acrylic on Canvas
Dimension: 4ft by 3ft
Year: 2026

In my theatre, some procedure require pen and ink.
By the time the job is done y'all won't only agree that art is therapeutic, but that it truly heals.
Happy holidays, y'all!!! πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸŽ‰

When I returned to Lagos after my residency in SA, had a robust conversation with my mentor around this series; what inspired it and how I came up with the series' title. He advised that I come up with 2 alternative names for the series, and settle for the one that best resonate with the narrative I aim to convey with the works. And so from titling the works "The Working Men", it was retitled "Legacy of Labour."

Legacy of Labour as a title emphasizes the historical context of the works, which is about apartheid and the ongoing impact of labour exploitation on South African Society

From LEGACY OF LABOUR series, this is A Working Man (ii), 4ft by 3ft, Acrylic and Ballpoint Pen on Canvas, 2025.

Hey buddies!
I'm pleased to share my recent piece from a new body of work I tilted the EPHEMERALITY Series.

Crreated with pen and acrylic on canvas, using a rose flower as a metaphor and fusing the jigsaw puzzle to show that we're part of something bigger, this work depicts the impermanence of the human life.
This scriptural text captures it: "All people are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades." (1 Peter 1:24)

Being mindful of the ephemerality of life would compel us to live our lives in gratitude and more purposefully, knowing our time here is limited. I bet if today is all we've got, we'd make the best of it.
The question I'd love to ask is, how do you think we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for the ephemerality of life, and what impact do you think this awareness would have on our daily lives?

Please, send in your comments! 😊
