VDM RAISES SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT LABOUR PARTY’S ADAMAWA GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE

VeryDarkMan has called on the Labour Party to reconsider its choice of former Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo as its candidate for the 2027 Adamawa governorship election.

VDM is raising concerns over a 2025 allegation that Abbo s^xu@lly @ulted a 13-year-old girl. The former senator denied the allegation, describing it as a politically motivated attempt to damage his reputation.

In January 2026, the Nigeria Police announced that their investigation had found insufficient credible evidence to support the allegation and cleared Abbo.

Despite that police finding, VDM is questioning whether Abbo should represent the Labour Party in the governorship race, particularly given the seriousness of the accusation involving a minor.

The issue raises difficult questions about political candidates, public trust, child protection and the standards political parties should apply when choosing people to represent them.

Important: The allegation was not established as fact, and the police reported clearing Abbo following their investigation.

Should political parties be required to explain their candidate-selection decisions when serious allegations have been made, even when investigators say the evidence is insufficient?

VDM QUESTIONS REV. EZEKIEL DACHOMO: “HOW DID THE STORY CHANGE?”

VeryDarkMan is questioning Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo following the cleric’s recent prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.

Dachomo has previously spoken out about killings and insecurity in Plateau State, criticising the government over its response to the violence.

But during his visit to Israel, he prayed for Tinubu and other leaders, saying that whatever had been planted against the President’s administration had been uprooted.

This has raised questions among social media users, with VDM challenging what he sees as a shift from criticising the government to praying for its success.

However, Dachomo has denied praying for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to win the 2027 election. He says his prayers were for Nigeria and its people, not an endorsement of the APC ticket.

Now the debate is about consistency, accountability and the difference between praying for a country’s leaders and politically supporting them.

LET’S DISCUSS: Can a pastor strongly criticise a government over insecurity and later pray for that same government without contradicting himself?

Drop your thoughts below.

VDM QUESTIONS REV. EZEKIEL DACHOMO: “HOW DID HE GO FROM CRITICISING TINUBU TO PRAYING FOR HIS ADMINISTRATION?”

VeryDarkMan is questioning the change in tone from Plateau-based cleric Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, who has previously criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government over insecurity and killings in Plateau State.

Dachomo recently travelled to Israel, where he prayed for Nigeria, its leaders and the success of the country. His prayer included Tinubu and his administration.

This has sparked debate online, with VDM questioning how a cleric who previously raised concerns about Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima could now be praying for the administration.

But Dachomo has since pushed back against some of the interpretations. He said his prayer was for Nigeria and its people, not an endorsement of the Tinubu–Shettima ticket for the 2027 election.

That clarification has added another layer to the debate.

For VDM, the question is about consistency: if you strongly criticise a government over serious issues, what should happen when you later pray for that same government?

Others may argue that praying for a leader does not necessarily mean supporting every decision the leader makes.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Can someone criticise a government and still pray for its success, or should the public expect a clearer explanation when their position appears to change?
