Who gets to create, accumulate and benefit from this magic?

This Friday, we welcome Tunde Wey a social practice artist working between Nigeria and the United States. Working at the intersection of capital and the political economy, Wey’s work engages material hierarchies and disparities, focusing particularly on how economics and finance impact working class people globally. He uses food, writing, film, performance, installation and finance to confront these disparities and attempts interventions in the same mediums.

Abeokuta has a long history of women coming together.

Drawing from the legacy of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti and the women who organised alongside her, the Abeokuta Women Artists Club is a new space for women artists to meet, exchange ideas and build community.

We begin with Come Home to Mama — an afternoon of conversation, connection and a special screening of a short film on Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.

Tonight at No Parking Lagos ✨

We’re launching Director’s Commentary with Kagho Idhebor’s My Jebba Story — bringing together film, photography and conversation.

What makes this one particularly special is that the photographs on the walls are some of the very first images Kagho made with his first camera, almost twenty years ago on Jebba Street. Photography would eventually lead him into cinematography and filmmaking, and tonight, he returns to where it all began for his first photography exhibition.

Come see the photographs, watch the film and join us for a conversation with Kagho about the journey between the two.

Director’s Commentary: My Jebba Story by Kagho Idhebor

On August 8, JCAA launches Director’s Commentary at No Parking Lagos with Kagho Idhebor’s My Jebba Story, presented through a film screening, photography exhibition and artist conversation.

My Jebba Story returns Kagho to Jebba Street, where his relationship with photography first began. The film considers the lasting influence of a place he has since left, while the accompanying photographs offer another view of the people, streets and encounters that informed the work. The photographs and the film are two ways Kagho tells the same story.

A cinematographer, filmmaker and visual storyteller with an almost two-decade practice and numerous awards and recognitions, Kagho describes this presentation as an important return to photography. Seeing these images on a gallery wall for the first time marks not only his first photography exhibition, but a renewed engagement with the medium that first taught him how to see the world.

As Without Rest: The Crown We Gain, a solo exhibition by closes today, we find ourselves returning to the processes that brought the works into being.

Tunde presented a memorable body of work from his observations of women who quietly nurture our informal economy. Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared moments from his studio — parts that often remain unseen once artworks enter the gallery space. For us at June Creative Art Advisory (JCAA), making space for these processes is deeply important to our curatorial practice. We remain interested not only in exhibiting works, but in highlighting the relationships and processes that shape artistic production over time. We achieve all these with collaboration at our core. Thank you for collaborating with us.

From the opening reception to the walkthrough with the artist — where guests moved through his influences, process, music and books — the exhibition made us spend more time with what is often overlooked.

Today is the final day to experience the exhibition — one last time, or perhaps for the first time.
