GHANAIAN POLICE REACT TO VIRAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VIDEO INVOLVING ACTRESS NANA AKUA ADDO
The Ghana Police Service has reacted to the viral domestic violence videos involving popular Ghanaian actress Nana Akua Addo and her husband, Harold Norman.
According to the police, on August 20, 2026, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) received a petition from the actress alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that a previous case involving the couple had been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Following the new petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. A caution statement was subsequently obtained from him, and on August 29, he was granted police enquiry bail with two sureties while investigations continued.
The police further stated that Harold was scheduled to appear in court today, but his lawyer informed the court that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to appear.
Investigators reportedly visited the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation. The police said he will be arraigned immediately upon his discharge.
The Criminal Investigations Department is also working with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that social welfare services are provided for the alleged victim and her children.
⚠️ The investigation is ongoing.
