A man on tweeter called me a disgrace to Igbo people. Said I was a "useful idiot" and that no Igbo man talks like I do.
That cut deep, but I knew I had to be calm. As an artist, I work with poetic license. I create real emotions, real characters. That’s what film is.
Still, it hurt. Because the average Igbo man is kind. He honours his woman. He gives her his best. And I tried to show that through my work.
When I read that tweet, I had to pause. It really got to me.
People told me not to respond. They said just let it go. But my heart wouldn’t let me stay silent. That’s not who I am. I believe the average Igbo man is a good man.
There’s even a saying in our culture — to know a man’s worth, look at his wife. That’s what I wanted to reflect in my role.
