Go inside a strong building or a hard-top car.
Stay away from windows and doors.
Avoid using electrical appliances and corded phones during lightning.
Stay away from trees, open fields, and water.

🔥 Wildfire Safety Tips
Leave immediately if adults or emergency officials tell you to evacuate.
Move away from the fire and smoke.
Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth if the air is smoky.
Never go back until it is safe.
Listen to emergency updates.

Natural Disaster Safety Tips

🌀 Hurricane Safety Tip: Go inside a strong building, stay away from windows, and wait until officials say it's safe to go outside.

🌊 Tsunami Safety Tip: Leave the beach immediately and move to high ground or as far inland as possible.

Parents help your kids understand, how to protect themselves when natural disasters hit.

If you are outside and alone during a tornado, your goal is to get to the safest shelter possible before the tornado reaches you. But if you can't find one, don't try to out run a tornado, instead
Find a low-lying ditch or depression if one is nearby.
Lie flat, face down, and cover your head and neck with your arms.
Stay alert for flooding, since ditches can fill with water.
Stay away from:
Trees (falling branches)
Power lines
Bridges and overpasses (they can create stronger winds rather than protect you)
Protect your head with anything available, such as a backpack, jacket, or your hands.
