We always enjoy exhibition days in Ado-Ekiti!

One of our favourite moments of the residency is opening the doors to the public and inviting visitors to see what the artists have been working on.

There’s always so much curiosity, so many questions and great conversations between the artists and guests.

A look back at some of these moments from Convergence, our closing exhibition and open studio.

Community is an important part of the Young Contemporaries Residency.

As part of this year’s program, the artists spent time at Ayo Fasanmi Model College in Ilokun, Ado-Ekiti, working together to create a mural for the school. Children from the community also joined in, painting alongside the artists.

It was a chance to step outside the studio, work together and leave something behind for the community that hosted us throughout the residency.

On Saturday, we brought the 2026/27 Young Contemporaries Residency to a close with Convergence, an exhibition and open studio in Ado-Ekiti.

Throughout the afternoon, participating artists shared their work, processes and experiences from the residency with alumni and guests, opening up conversations around the ideas and experiments that had developed over the past weeks.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, spent time with the artists and engaged with their work.

We look forward to welcoming you today!

This year’s Young Contemporaries Residency brought together artists from across Nigeria, Morocco, South Africa, Ghana and Botswana to live, work and exchange ideas in Ado-Ekiti.

Over the past weeks, they have spent time experimenting, questioning, making and developing new directions within their individual practices.

Today, we open Convergence, an exhibition and open studio offering a glimpse into what has emerged from their time together.
