Two years ago, I was drowning in my own thoughts. Every morning followed the same pattern: Eyes open. Grab phone. Check email. Scroll Instagram. Read headlines. Feel overwhelmed.
And that was all before my feet even hit the floor.
By 9 AM, my brain already felt like it had run a marathon. Anxiety was my constant companion, focus was a distant memory, and the idea of actually enjoying my mornings seemed laughable.
Then my friend suggested something that sounded both ridiculously simple and impossibly difficult:
"Try giving yourself five minutes of nothing when you first wake up."
I laughed. "Five minutes of “nothing”? I don't have five minutes to spare."
"That's exactly why you need it," he said.
I had no idea this absurdly simple practice would completely transform my mental health, productivity, and relationships. Four weeks later, I couldn't believe I'd ever lived any other way.
