Conflict and confrontation are generally unpleasant affairs that churns up unpleasant emotions.
Those (Gumi and his likes) who believe against the evidence that niceness to bandits and Terrorist will breed niceness in return are doomed to failure in any kind of negotiation, let alone in the game of life and Nigeria as a country.
People respond in a nice and conciliatory way only when it is in their interest to do so.
The one and only way for us as a nation to get out of this endless circle of killings is to make it a point of duty to creat that imperative of making it painful to exist or fight for the enemies of Nigeria(i.e Bandits , killer herders, and terrorist of whatever name they choose to call themselves).
If the Nigerian government, politicians, religious leader and the Army, continue to ease up the pressure against this terrorists, out of a desire to be conciliatory and gain their trust, it will only give the enemy an opening to procrastinate, deceive, and take advantage of the niceness offered.
Over the centuries those who have fought wars have learned this lesson the hard way.
